No, this tie plate is for flat pieces.

using the 4-1/8 in. x 11 in. 20-gauge tie plate, what is the recomended nail type when attatching to 2 x 6 material?

Asked by KeoKonstruct255aok January 4, 2015

Answer

The holes on the TP tie plates (including the TP411) are sized for 8dx1 1/2" nails, 8d common nails (0.131" diameter x 2 1/2" long) or SD#9x1 1/2 structural connector screws. It would be up to the Designer/Engineer of Record to specify which fastener to use and the quantity needed for the specific application. Thank you!

My county inspector made me put a nail in every single hole and this is generally stated on the company website. I'd buy the stronger tie plate, requiring fair fewer nails (20 instead of 66 nails are required here), which will make your wood nail poor.
