The TP is a non-load rated, miscellaneous connector that can be used in a variety of applications, but it would be up to the Designer/Engineer of Record to evaluate when using for structural applications. I'm not clear on the specific application, but the RPS strap tie meets code requirements for repair of wood members notched during installation of plumbing and electrical and the CTS218 repairs wood members (top plates, studs and trusses) and handles both tension and compression loads. It would be up to the Designer/EofR to specify the appropriate solution. Thank you!
Can be used to mend together a break, crack, cut, end joint, etc. Should not be used as the primary hold for a weight bearing wall/opening. It's for additional, not primary support.
No, I don’t ever use all the holes. They are there to allow a lot of options. You have to make a judgment call on how many to use. In my opinion using all of them would weaken the wood, too much. I use screws, not nails.
