It is hard to determine which type you have because there is no manufacturing marks on baseboard heating. Are you trying to just replace the end caps?? If so, you could buy one or both caps and simply slide it behind your current baseboard to see if it matches. I suggest you use masking tape or painters tape to cover it so you do not scratch the end cap (just in case it does not work for you and you have to return it). If the caps do not match up, replacing it with a dummy unit is not hard at all. The hardest part is cutting the length of the material needed. Good luck!

Does it come with a splice plate for joining two sections together?

Slant fin includes part number 101-640 which some people refer to as Wall Trim and others refer to as a Solid Splice plate. with there baseboard lengths of 5' and above. So if you purchase a 8' of complete or enclosure only you will receive one. For all intents and purposes this is a splice plate. Why the two names? Because plumbers like lawyers like to create complicated terms for simple concepts.

Does it come in Almond or light Almond?

The almond color was discontinued about 15 years ago. This color is called "Nu White" However it is not a bright while and I have had some people refer to it as a biscuit. It is only stocked in the stores located in the North Eastern US and Alaska. So if you are not in that area you can give us a call and I can send you a sample. Essentially I will cut off a piece from some of the damaged product we have in the ware house and send it to you. Chris 978 651 3301

How do I calculate how long a baseboard heater for # of square feet

Asked by JS September 4, 2019

This particular baseboard is rated at 580 btu/lin ft @ 180 degrees (boiler temperature) circulating 1GPM (gallon per minute) general rule (however there are more accurate calculators if you search online) figure in northeast btu at 40/per square foot (needed to heat room) divide by the 580 and you get amount of feet to have in room. ex: 12x12 (room size) is 144 sq ft. 144x 40 (N.E. general rule btu's needed) = 5,760 (btu's needed) divided by the 580 (rated on this baseboard pre ft) equals roughly 10 ft. To be more accurate you must factor ceiling height, sq. in. of windows, doors in room, heated from above or below, outside walls etc. (a good calculator that used to be online was embassy radiant. When I bought my Enclosure-Only units 3 years ago each package included multiple support brackets and one splice plate (cover) for possibly joining two units. The Left-end and Right-end cap was not included and needed to be purchased separately.

can I just plug this into my wall

If you mean plug into an electrical outlet, the answer is no.. This is enclosure only for a hydronic heating system that utilizes a boiler that circulates hot water through a pipe to heat a home. This does not use electricity at all.

i need this item in a 3 ft length. Is it possible to order that size online?

I needed a weird size too. I bought a longer length and carefully cut it down using high quality sheet metal snips. You may want to experiment cutting up sheet metal to make sure you get a clean, straight cut. I practiced on an old cover first.

Rust - want to back up Marie in her review. In a bathroom expect the end caps to rust. I specifically bought the galvanized version 30, & the correct end caps, and the end caps rusted in no time. I bought replacement end caps, asked for galvanized, and you'll notice the picture of the new replacement end cap (30 series) which isn't even fully painted. I contacted Slant/Fin via email at the time, and the rep apologized that they didn't have a solution for me. Now they might. There's a new "Revital" line of aluminum covers that comes complete with sticker shock. There are also some plastic covers sold by HD. My solution was to use the plastic end caps HD sells, with the existing Slant 30 galvanized enclosure. It took some trimming of the plastic, but it works fine. If I were to do it over again from scratch, I'd choose the aluminum or plastic for a bathroom.

First I am sorry for your inconvenience and the bad information you received. Although Slant Fin and the other two manufacturers of baseboard now produce there product with galvanized steel, end caps are not. Due to the nature of how they are made they can not be made from galvanized steel. As a result they can rust in high humidity environments. I wish had a consistent solution for you or others even at risk of recommending a competitor. But I do not. I used the plastic ones you reference in your review that are made by Neat Heat.

I ordered two 8-footers online and picked them up at my local Home Depot three weeks ago. They were ready to go and the guy helped get them to my car. The baseboard enclosures were in perfect condition and just the right color. I used them to replace 30-year old semi-corroded ones that I had repainted too many times. The new baseboard enclosures slipped right into the space occupied by the old ones. I did take the opportunity to clean out/patch/sand/repaint the exposed bare wall before I installed the new ones - glad I did that. I also took the time to find studs to mount the new enclosures solidly. The design gave me the flexibility to adapt the mounting hardware and my screws to the location. The new enclosures are now shiny-new and a bigger improvement to my kitchen than I thought they would be. They are high-quality units, very cost-effective and I like that complete documentation is available on the manufacturer's site. I would made this choice all over again, and I will be upgrading the master bedroom with the same product.

The product is great, but the lack of instructions led to me not buying the end caps at the same time. Its a 30 minute drive for me to the nearest HD so I have to plan these trips out. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice if the instructions were more than a couple of drawings on the outside of the box.
