Work well, but had a few problems

This ratchet set works pretty well, but I did have a few problems. First thing was getting them out of the package, you will either need pliers to untwist the wires or wire cutters. The second was not finding directions to connect the strap to the ratchet. I did finally find the directions, which is the label that is attached to the strap. But they were so small that I had to use a magnifying glass to read them. And the directions were not very clear on which way to put the strap into the slot. After doing what I thought was the correct way, it turned out it I put it in the wrong direction. The next problem is the release button, when pushing it, it tends to move around and it only releases one side. But after messing with it, it did eventually unhook. But that could definitely use some work. Aside from the few minor problems it all worked out. Hopefully the company will make some modifications to fix it up. They did work, but I really do not think I would purchase this one again, knowing what I went through to get them to work.

Sturdy

Fully Tested & Approved
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow, what a great product. We put these Tactical Ratchet to the test this weekend. First, we used these for picking up a dishwasher roughly 45 miles away from our house. It was solid with basically no movement on the interstate. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, we loaded up the 4 wheeler to go raccoon and coyote hunting for some local farmers in our area. The roads we travel on are low maintenance roads and ditches. I used both ratchet tie downs for the front and back of the 4 wheeler. The 4 wheeler didn't move very much, only a little when we were going up and down in the ditches. The only thing that needs a tiny revision, is the instructions on the package. It took me a few minutes to figure out how that straps went together with the ratchet. These ratchets are great to use whether its with appliances or a 4 wheeler.

Easy to see!
First off, I had to only give these 4 stars because the case they come in is only for the sales floor. Once I got this home, it was clear the ratchets were NEVER going to be stored in the case again. That's about the only negative about the whole thing. Most probably don't care about storage for their straps. Absolutely love the big rubber grips for clamping down on the straps as well. Bright green of the straps is another plus.

A Great Set of Ratchet Straps
The 10 foot Tactical Ratchet Straps by Smart Straps are some of the best ratchet straps that I have ever owned. These ratchet straps are listed as standard duty, however these are rated for a 500 pound safe working load and a 1,500 pound break strength. Many competitors do not have any working loads or break strength specs listed.
Some nice features include a built in loop for tying back onto itself, velcro sewed into the end for keeping the excess strap neat for storage or while in use, there is also rubber on the mechanism so it does not damage your transport vehicle. The ratchet end section is approximately 16" long so it can be tied onto itself. The ratchet teeth are slightly finer with a higher tooth count compared to other straps that I have used, which gives you better adjustment of your load. The longer strap is about 107" long and has a heavy duty hook with a rubberized coating. Overall these are great ratchet straps and come in real handy when moving or transporting cargo.

Heavy Duty!
I ordered the ten foot SmartStraps Tactical Ratchet Tie Down. It came with a set of two in black/green and can hold up to 1,500 pounds. I loved these tie downs because they have a velcro piece that allows you to tie down the extra strap so it doesn’t fly as you drive. This is especially important because by not securing the excess strap you take the risk of hitting another vehicle or having the strap wrap around your wheels, which can cause an accident. Assembly was simple and the quality was great. I would order more.

The best straps in their class
I've bought so many straps. Well over 100 and tried them all and I most say these are extremely high quality and the ratchet is super easy to use. The straps also have built in Velcro to keep them wrapped and organized. The straps also have a sewn in loop that comes in super handy to use when a hook will not work or a loop is preferred. I've had the straps for a few weeks and they worked perfect for holding a water heater on a dolly and keeping cardboard on a cart from slipping off to name a few. Next week I need to strap some limbs to a trailer and I know the traps will be up for the task. If your looking for a high quality ratchet strap look no further smart straps and there 1,000 14ft straps have you covered.

Contains Heavy Loads and Stores in Original Packaging
Like everyone, I occasionally have to do some hauling and having ratcheting straps to quickly tie down loads is ideal. There's a lot to like about these straps. The straps are 10' long, 1" wide and are less slippery than some which makes securing your load easier. The large 4" hooks are finished well. The straps also have a loop connector to use instead of using both hooks for something that scratches easily. I like the larger ratchet head. Ratcheting is easy with plastic grips to protect your hand. Releasing the ratchet is not as easy. I had difficulty getting the ratchet head open to the right spot so it would release. The release mechanism is difficult to work and there are no protective plastic grips. One of the nice features is that the original packaging can be used to store the ratchet straps until your next use. It is important to note that the 1500 lb is the Break Strength while the Safe Working Load is 500 lb.
I am very satisfied with these straps and recommend them for securing loads that do not exceed 500 lbs.

smooth, attractive
oddly enough these ratchet straps are attractive, like sleek and sexy attractive. from the black on black from hooks to the strap, and definitely the ratchet itself. it all looks very good. besides the sweet looks the ratcheting action is super smooth, quiet and have a high tooth count for precise adjustment. they work great, they look great and they also have a velcro strap to hold itself together when not in use, which i am very impressed with. all around they’re a fantastic product and are very easy to work with. the only downfall is that they don’t come assembled.
