This 2691565 mower has 2 options for batteries that can be used. In the parts manual for this mower you have 1697088 BATTERY, 48v 2.0, which can be purchased here https://thd.co/2kERDOZ for $79.00 USD and 1697090 BATTERY, 48v 5.0 Which can be purchased here https://thd.co/2lU5fGa for $131.58 USD. The charger for this lawn mower is 1697092 CHARGER, 48v and can be purchased here https://thd.co/2mlzyG2 for $49.09 USD

Will the older 60V snapper battery work on this? It is identical in size and shape.

Unfortunately not. the 60V batteries are made for the 60V snapper product line. and should not work with the 48V Snapper products.

Answer

When using the Snapper 48V 5.0 Ah battery (part #1697090), you can get up to 60-minutes of run time under light loads. The run time may be affected by the mowing conditions (grass length, how wet/dry the grass is, environmental conditions, etc.). Additional Snapper 48V 5.0 Ah (#1697090) batteries can be purchase here: https://thd.co/2VO47VH.

Answer

Yes, this mower does have good suction. Keep in mind that the performance of the mower in picking up or bagging grass/leaves will greatly depend on the environmental/grass conditions (i.e. type of grass, thickness/length of grass, how wet/dry the grass is). We always recommend that the lawn is free of stones, sticks, wires, and other objects that could not only damage the blades, but they could accidentally be thrown by the mower, which could cause serious personal injury to the operator or others.

How long does it take to recharge the battery? Thanks

The battery takes about 2 hrs to fully charge if completely dead. I usually need about half to finish the yard and then recharge for the next time.

(What's this)
This arrived looking like UPS dragged it behind the truck the last few miles. However, the mower was in perfect condition so hats off for the good packaging. Fairly easy to assemble with just four tool-less bolts to attach the handle to the mower deck. I then popped the battery into the charger for four hours to charge. For the size of the battery, it was surprisingly lightweight. Inserting it into the mower is fairly easy. Just open the door and shove it in. Getting it out for charging was a bit more difficult due to the stiffness of the release lever, but I think that will get easier with time. The battery has a USB port so you could use it to charge your cell phone about 97 times. I plugged my phone in and the phone said it was “charging slowly, use original charger” so I don't think I'll use this feature often. The power interlock is a two-step procedure: Hold down the big button on the handle and then hold down the deadman bail. A minor annoyance is that the directions for the process is printed on a sticker, but the words do not face the user. The motor winds up slowly (they call it “soft start) and is about as loud as a vacuum cleaner. To get underway with the self-propelled feature, you have to push down a second bail on the handle. Like the motor, it takes off slowly and builds up speed. There's a speed setting on the left of the handle, but I couldn't tell much difference between the Turtle and the Rabbit choices. At top speed, it has a medium walking pace. It's slower than my Toro gas mower at top speed. I had no trouble climbing a fairly steep hill (rises about 5' over 4 5'), but again, it was slower than my Toro. In nearly 50 years of lawnmowing, I have to give this bag the award for the easiest to remove/replace. Just two hooks to line up and then let go. This Snapper is a lightweight mower and the single lever cutting height adjustment works well. One thing to note if you store your mower outdoors: The manual clearly states this should be stored indoors in a clean dry location without covering it with plastic. They seem to be wary of trapping moisture on the mower. Overall, this seems to be a decent mower for a small to medium sized yard. Not having to buy gas, do oil changes, or wear earplugs is a huge improvement over what I've been doing for decades. I'm really looking forward to spring!

(What's this)
This mower has more useful features on it than any other mower I have ever owned , It's quiet and it's powerful. It's push button start and it's dual lever controls allow you to use the self propelled function with or without the blade running. It has (3) different cutting modes. You can use it as a side discharge mower or use it as a rear bagger mower. If you want to mulch your clippings, it comes with a mulching plug you insert into the rear discharge chute and it mulches. The height adjustment has (6) different height settings and you adjust the height with a single lever that sets all four wheels at the same time. Best of all, when you are done mowing, with the click of (2) half turn spring loaded pins, the handle folds down and you can store the mower standing on end which takes up far less room and it allowes you to clean out the underside with ease. You could even hang it on the wall to store it if you wanted to. No storing gas, no changing oil and best of all, it starts with the touch of a button. The 48V battery gives you up to an hour of run time, depending on how thick and long your grass is and it takes about an hour to fully recharge the battery. I love it.

(What's this)
The Snapper 48 Volt Cordless Electric Mower is very innovative. It has a 20” steel mower deck that easily converts from mulching to side discharge to rear bagging. Assembly is as simple as unfolding the lower handle and installing the upper handle using two bolts and knobs. The handle has what the manufacturer calls a bale lever that needs to be held up for the motor to run. There is a second similar lever on the top of the handle that engages the self propelled portion of this mower. There is a speed selector on the handle that determines how fast the drive wheels will turn. Included with the mower is the rear discharge bag (2.1 cubic feet), a mulching plug (to be used if mulching would be preferable to bagging), a removable chute for side discharge, a 5.0 a/h 48v battery and a charger. A door opens up on the back of the motor that allows the battery to be inserted, and also has a removable “key” under this cover that disables the power. The tag states that the brushless motor runs at 2800 rpm’s. The mower cuts a 20” swath and has a 7 position height adjuster with a single selector handle. The battery has 4 lights that indicate the charge in the battery when the selector button is pressed. The manufacturer states that the 5.0 a/h battery should last approximately 60 minutes while mowing under a light load. I have only had the opportunity to use this mower once. In my test I removed about 2” of grass with the mulch plug in and mowed for about 20 minutes. It was what I would consider a light to sometimes medium loading. Early on the motor did pull down and stop in one place where the grass was deeper and I tried to feed it too fast. The battery level dropped down to 1 light, which indicates a remaining charge of 10-30%, which seemed lower than I would have expected. The power had not reduced noticeably with the lower charge. The real test will be when the grass gets fuller and greener later in the year, as well as learning how accurate the battery lights actually are. One interesting thing about this design is that since it doesn't use gasoline or oil the mower can be stood on its back for storage. I have included a picture of it in that position. When in this position it is about 15" from the wall. The mower has a 36 month warranty, with the battery and charger covered for 24 months. It appears to be a well made and versatile mower, and I would at this point order it again. I will rate it at 4 stars due to the battery usage, as I was hoping it would have lasted a bit better.

(What's this)
First of all, this Snapper mower is so light that on a regular lawn many people could do just fine without the self-propulsion assistance. At 56 lbs. it weighs about 30 lbs. less than a comparable gas mower. However, for me, I am getting up in the years and I have a sloping yard so I can appreciate the aid of the mower’s rear wheel drive. With the weight of the mower in back, it provides ideal traction when headed up the slope. Its variable speed is controlled by a slide lever on the side of the handle bar. I found that a mid setting was consistent with my pace. To adjust the blade height, you use the single lever located at the rear. A spring assists the lift rod which allows you to use just one hand to easily raise or lower the deck. Starting the mower is simply done by just pressing a button and then clasping the Bail lever onto the handle. The handle bar is angled for a natural grip and is cushioned for added comfort. Both the Bail and Self Propel levers are easy to grip and hold while mowing. Of the three adjustable positions for the handle height, I found the middle slot to be ideal (I am 6’ tall). I like how simple it is to fold the handle bar forward and then stand the mower up on its rear to store it at the back of my garage. One thing I quickly noticed was that before pulling the mower backwards, the wheels would remain locked in the drive gear unless I manually pushed the mower about six inches forward, then it would disengage and I could easily pull it back. This isn’t a problem, it’s just something you need to anticipate and actually became second nature to me very quickly. Mowing my small 6,600 s.f. lawn took half of the battery’s charge as evidenced by the fuel level indicator on the battery. Giving the 5.0 Ah battery a full charge takes about two and a half hours. The quiet motor sounds very similar to a box fan which you can talk over without shouting. As I would mow into taller, thicker grass, the motor would quickly give a power burst to easily cut through it and then power down as I moved out from it. The mulching function works very well as does its bagging feature. I’m sold on battery operated mowers for their simplicity, reliability and cleanliness. They’re ideal for the typical homeowner on an average sized lot. Over the years, I’ve owned three different battery powered mowers now (40v, 58v, 48v) with this one by Snapper being the best and my favorite.

This LI-ION mower is equipped with a “soft-start” feature. When initially starting up, the mower will take approx. 3 seconds to get up to full speed. If the mower does not initially start: Remove the battery and check under the mower deck to ensure there is nothing obstructing the blade and that the blade can spin freely by hand. Even a small amount of grass on start up will prevent the “soft start” from turning the mower on.

The mower is great, just like a gas mower but quieter. The battery lasts fine, and the fact that it stands up to store it in the corner is a plus!

Just received my new battery power mower and I really like the actual mower with its many adjustments etc. but the only problem the battery stopped out of juice 3/4 of the yard being done. So I don't know if I have a defective battery or its how its supposed to be. I charged it before starting to full so not sure. Im giving it another try to cut my grass today to see if the same happens. I guess if I had a second battery to piggy back off the down battery I could be ok. That's the only thing I've found neg. on the mower, I love the mower itself. Easy to use, lite, many options couldn't ask for more......except battery life.
