Can you use the 82-volt mower battery on this trimmer?

No, the 82 Volt batteries are for 82V products only.

How is the string loaded and can you use .095 string?

Asked by David April 26, 2019

Answer

String is loaded the same way as any weed eater/trimmer, at the bottom (round piece the string comes out of, squeeze two raised areas on the side and pull the cap off) This one comes loaded with string when you buy it. The thicker string might work, but it may not have enough room to bump ( allow it to let the string come out easier) or a thinner string - as long as it can fit thru the opening hole the string comes out of. I have never tried it.

What replacement dual trimmer line would I use for this trimmer?

Asked by Lovenotes April 2, 2019

Answer

The books states that you would use 15' of .080 inch line for replacement.

The Snapper 48V Cordless trimmer appears to be well built and versatile. Although the battery case and trimmer end are made mostly with plastic, they seem durable. They are connected by a two piece metal shaft that securely snaps together. Assembly is very simple and intuitive and didn’t take long. The length of the total unit is about 72”, so should have adequate reach. The trimmer has a two string head that cuts an 11” swath which can be easily expanded to 13” by reversing the string cutter blade. It has a bump advancing button on the bottom of the spool. It takes 15’ of .080” line to refill it. The unit has a safety trigger that must be depressed to operate the variable speed lever. A second switch selects between two speeds. The trimmer comes with a 2.0 a/h battery and a charger. The manufacturer states that it will run for approximately 20 minutes on a charge. I did a no-load test on the highest speed, and at 30 minutes the battery lights indicated that the remaining charge was somewhere between 10-30 %. A 5.0 a/h battery will fit in the unit, although is not included. One interesting thing about these batteries is that they contain a USB port on them that can charge a cell phone or other device using the battery (although I am sure it is not intended to use while operating the unit!). Overall this seems like a great addition to my lawn tools and appears be well made. I would definitely order again!

This Snapper trimmer is a fine piece of equipment and is all you'll need for a small yard with light trimming. It had plenty power at Max and you don't have to run at Max output all the time. It had a useful range of power for lighter jobs. It is very light even with the battery installed. I ran mine for 20 minutes and used about half the battery running pretty hard. A nice and useful feature is the string guard that folds down to keep you from hitting the tree trunks or other things you don't want to cut. Highly recommended product and well made. Assembles in minutes.

(What's this)
This Snapper HD 48V Cordless String Trimmer is better than any electric or gas trimmer! I tried it on grass that was taller than me (5'4) following the instructions to trim from the top to eliminate it getting tangled around it. So much power in this battery operated machine. Just the right size and weight to keep it comfortable to hold and work with. No pulling strings like on a gas one, No electrical cords to watch out for.The power was stronger than any of my electric weed eaters. Great for use in areas you have no access to electricity. No messy gasoline to deal with. I really needed this trimmer to cut the grass down in an area a lawn mower can't access because we used a back hoe to dig trenches for pipes, septic tank, etc. which left the ground so uneven we couldn't use a lawnmower without running into the dirt. This trimmer can cut it down so that we can level and grade it.I would recommend this trimmer , great design with a ergonomic handle with comfortable grip. Great landscaping trimmer!

Does a great job. Easy to assemble. Light, recharges fast and charges last about 45 minutes. All that I need for my yard. String doesn't last very long though - reason for the 4 stars. Really like the machine.

No fuel to add just power to go. This string trimmer comes with plenty of power in a comfortable to use unit. The battery is quickly charged in the included charger and thanks to the built in handle is easily inserted or removed from the unit or the charger. The string trimmer has a refillable bump head for string advancement. It is well balanced with the battery inserted plus it has the advantage of quiet operation.

(What's this)
Took this out of the box today and checked it out. It has plenty of torque and cuts well. The bump-feed worked good until it kind of locked up. I opened it up, rewound the string and it proceeded to work fine the rest of the day. I think it may be a little stiff because it is new. I've sprayed my other string trimmers bump-feed mechanisms with dry teflon lubricant before to assure smooth operation. It's nicely balanced. Assembly was minimal and hassle free. Lighter and quieter than my gas string trimmer. Refilling with trimmer string is a little more trouble than other models. The instructions had excellent illustrations for restringing the head. An easier pass through and turn style to refill head would have made this trimmer perfect. I have other Snapper tools and consider them a better brand. The look, feel, and construction of this one verifies that.

I got this cordless string trimmer last week and had to give it a quick tryout. It is winter here on Long Island but i have a woods in my backyard so there is always areas that need a good weed wacking. Putting this unit together was a breeze with most of the time spent on getting the shield placed on the bottom of the unit and hooking up the shoulder strap.I charged up the battery for about an hour then it was off to the woods. This unit did a good job of knocking down the weeds but struggled a bit with all the viney stuff i have growing back there.I got about forty minutes of run time with this item which will be fine for most of my needs. There are attachments that can be purchased for other jobs but i will most likely check out a brush cutter. At least i won't have trouble starting this trimmer like my gas one.
