About This Product

Protect your outlets, switches, data ports and more from paint and drywall texture by using Socket Blockers. These blockers save time, money and hassle by reducing prep and cleanup time and possible replacement of the outlets/switches. Socket Blockers come in 6 or 30 pack options. 6 packs are great for 1 or 2 bedrooms; consider the 30 pack for larger paint, drywall or remodel projects. If you love painting, but not the prep and cleanup, Socket Blockers are your answer.

Highlights

  • Save time: socket blockers are faster, easier and will save you time with both prep and clean up
  • Safer: socket blockers allow users to quickly apply over outlets and switches without fear of touching the wiring, using other means of protection can put your fingers very close to the wiring
  • Universal design: patented to protect nearly every single outlet, light switch, data port, stereo hook ups, smart switches and protects against paint, drywall and drywall texture, backsplash thin set, mortar mixes, etc.
  • Contractors and diy: grab a box of socket blockers to have in the toolbox, they are very handy, we appreciate that painters (DIY and professional) are used to doing things a certain way and that is great, with the growing demand on smart devices, switches, etc., that can cost more than $50 a switch, it is just not worth risking protection with tape, you may change how you protect outlets and switches
  • Feel good: made in Oregon from recycled bottles
  • 6 and 30 pack options: 6 packs are great for 1 or 2 bedroom projects, consider the 30 packs for larger projects
  • Peel, stick, paint, easy to use, simply pull the long edge off the foam adhesive and apply to outlet and switch housing once the plate is removed
  • Made and manufactured by a small woman owned business

    Answer This Question

A:  Its good until the sticky stuff wears out. Haven't tried it yet but double side tape may work.

Q:how's this better than just tearing off a strip of wide painter's tape and slapping it on the socket. You've got to take the plates off either way so I'm not seeing why this is money well-spent

      Answer This Question

A:  I like it better because it's faster, secure when I spray texture/paint, or roll into it, and reusable a handful of times. No matter how careful I am with tape, it sometimes flips up if I touch it with the roller. I also don't like sticking my fingers so close to the wires when I use tape. This is better all the way around. I highly recommend!

Q:Was any thought given to showing a video where wet paint is sprayed into an electrical junction box? While the product does mask the front of the outlet or switch, allowing atomized paint into an electrical devices, especially a switch or GFCI outlet, might be mistake. In the case of a GFCI, it could easily put the device in fault by causing a path for current to ground. I would not look forward to making future modification to the wiring in those boxes, either. Anyone spraying on or near an outlet should augment these covers with quality painters tape.

        Answer This Question

A:  Socket Blockers were vigorously tested against all ANSI, ASTM, CCMC, CSA, EPA, ICBO, ICC-ES, UL, and ULC standards and further side by side against tape. Socket Blockers outperformed tape by 1000% when considering access residue in rough-in boxes.

          Super easy and useful!
Love these! We bought an old house previously occupied by renters and every single room needs painted. I loathe painting and I’m a sloppy painter, so these made the chore much easier and cleaner. I love that they’re reusable as well. Highly recommend!

            Never using blue tape again!
I love the socket blocker! I hate the hassle of blue tape and not pulling it off completely, but the socket blocker fixes that for me! I was able to get very close to the socket and paint straight lines, plus I had enough stick to reuse them a couple times! Never going back to blue tape again!

I can't believe an inexpensive, easy to use product like this made such a big difference in the time it took to prep, paint and clean up. Highly recommend!

Where have you been all my life?
I always hated prepping to paint. masking trim, outlets and switches. Socket Blockers made my life a lot easier. Not only did this save me time taping before painting and removing tape after, it gave the paint clean edges and they were so simple to use. peel and place. It was that easy. I wish I had seen these before I sprayed texture, I wouldn't have had to replace 3 plug ins that I couldn't get clean. What a great invention.....

Worked well. Easy to use. Highly recommend.
I bought socket blocker on a whim. It was super easy to use, fit my outlets perfectly and removed the need to fiddle around with taping sockets - which I hate. I’ll be using these every time I paint from now on. Highly recommend.

                      Fast. Easy. Reusable.
I ordered because I needed to texture and paint some recent drywall work. These were awesome for both applying texture and painting...plus we were able to reuse them. The adhesive kept it firm on the oulet/switch/rough-in box...even with banging into it as I was working. I just peeled the back (long edge, peels easily) stuck it on and got to work. When finished, I peeled it off and switches/were perfect. SO much faster/easier than tape, and I felt safer not having to stick my hands next to the electrical wires.
