It might be better to plant inside the ceramic pot instead of on it. The sunshine ligustrum should do well in a planted pot. There are to many other variables to consider to give you a more definitive answer to your question. Keep an eye on the water level. The soil should be most but not over wet and not too dry. I advise 1/3 cup of water a day for smaller container plants.
You can feel free to prune the sunshine Ligustrum anytime of the year.
Without seeing a picture of your plant directly I can not answer specifically. But I can give you some tips as to what happens when my Sunshine Ligustrum turns darker. When they are not receiving enough sunlight they will turn. When they don't received enough water they will get dry in the leaves. When they get to much water they will turn brown and droopy.
I think she was showing a Laurel Petulum (not sure spelling is correct). I have a small one. It has dark purple leaves and seems to be deer resistant and not require lots of water.
Was it root bound when you pulled it out of the pot? Most ligustrum are. If so, you would want to dig it up and take a serrated knife and make about fout 1/2" deep vertical slices into the root ball and then replant it. Also, now that you have done this to the roots, you would want to take off about 1-2" growth off the end of each branch. I know cutting it back seems like you are losing progress, but it will help give the plant some energy. These are tough little guys. Don't over-water it. give it a good drink about once a week the first season and then you can neglect it quite a bit once established. Jim Putnam on the HortTube youtube channel has some good videos about this plant if you need more help with it. After it's in the ground a year it's going to take off. It might look a a little scraggley the first year while it gets established.
These shrubs require a lot more water than one might think prudent, at least as newly planted shrubs.
I have wonderful praise for this Sunshine Liguestrum, we had a foot of snow and rains continuously during the whole months of Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, March and now April. A LOT of rain. These bushes survived the worst so far and am now going to order more since they did so well for around my pool area. They are bright, soft looking, am very glad I bought them. I have over an acre of back yard I've cleared of Oak and privet upstarts, now my shade trees have been added, I'll make sure I have plenty of these about the yards. I love them and the pugster dwarf bottlebrush are perfect as well
No
No, mine are 4’x4’ in just 3 seasons.
No. Ligustrum don't need especially acid soil and they are tough as nails.
