This product is the size 2 AWG, which is smaller than the size 2/0 AWG. 2/0 AWG conductors will handle more current than 2 AWG conductors.

That USE stands for underground service entrance so it can be buried but over the years I learned it's a gamble so I always put it in pvc conduit. Rocks and gravel and other junk in the ground will wear a hole in it which will rot the aluminum.

is this triple rated? RHH/RHW/USE-2

Asked by Mike October 7, 2018

Answer

This is just a USE. The above advice is based upon the current edition of the National Electric Code (NEC). Free access to the latest version of the NEC is available online at www.nfpa.org/freeaccess. The NEC and local building codes regulate the types of wire and cable that can be used in specific electrical applications, as well as the manner of installation. Check your local building codes before you start any wiring and cable electrical project and be sure to obtain required permits. When your work is complete, always have it inspected for compliance with local codes to ensure that it has been safely installed.

What does the 3E refer to?

Asked by Guest1 November 8, 2017
1
Answer

8000 series aluminum alloy - Triple E®. Triple E is a proprietary alloy with the designator 8176. It combines high conductivity with mechanical characteristics that are much closer to copper than earlier EC-grade aluminum materials. Since 1987, the NEC has required an 8000-series alloy product in most building wire applications. • 3E is short for triple E and is found on our AL building wire products • Softer and easier to bend • Higher load standards than the original 1350 alloy • Meets UL test requirements

Is this wire also RHW rated?

Asked by wp23 September 6, 2014

Answer

This product has an RHH or RHW or USE rating. I have attached a spec sheet for your review.

I couldn't find any wire that was 4/0 4/0 2/0 #2. and I ordered 150' of each which is what I got but I forgot about wrapping the #2 wire around the other 3 wires, when I got to the end the #2 wire was 4 feet shorter than the other 3 wires so if you are doing this remember to order extra of the wire you are wrapping around other wires. good wire...
