Questions & Answers

What connectors do I use with this conduit?

What connectors do I use with this conduit. I am not finding any connectors that are described for use with this conduit on the Home Depot web site. Would I use the standard metal connectors? Those would not be water tight. Or would I use Liquidtite NM Fitting Connector? Is there a metallic water tight connector? Can you give me some Home Depot part numbers to get me started? Thanks

There are several companies that make fittings specifically designed for PVC Jacketed MC Cable: http://www.aifittings.com/landing/ltmc507-ltmc75/ http://bptfittings.com/Home/ProductFinder?sel=820,1025 http://www.tnb.com/pub/en/node/740

I want to use this as a conduit for a 12gauge wire. from a power pole to a movable boat dock.

the wire would be suspended along the lower portion of the 60" gangway going to the dock where it would connect into the dock wiring.
Asked by: yankee
It is unclear from your question whether the installation is above the gangway deck or below it. NEC 555.13(B)(5) addresses the protection of wiring above the deck for marina and boatyards. It does not include liquidtight flexible metal conduit (LFMC) as an option, therefore this is not allowed by the NEC. However for wiring below the deck, this wiring method does not appear to be prohibited. This conduit product is listed for wet locations and is sunlight resistant. We advise you to check with your local inspector to determine whether this installation would be code-compliant for where you live. Regulations regarding boat docks and marinas can vary around the country. The above advice is based upon the current edition of the National Electric Code (NEC). Free access to the latest version of the NEC is available online at www.nfpa.org/freeaccess. The NEC and local building codes regulate the types of wire and cable that can be used in specific electrical applications, as well as the manner of installation. Check your local building codes before you start any wiring and cable electrical project and be sure to obtain required permits. When your work is complete, always have it inspected for compliance with local codes to ensure that it has been safely installed.

do flexi lines ever crack or leak?

I have a leak. Plumber says it is from the line.

This product is an electrical conduit, not a plumbing product. It is not designed or tested for use in a plumbing system.
