Q:It says not to run romex in conduit. But in my barn the lights/plugs are within my horses range. For safety reasons cant it be enclosed in conduit?

          Answer This Question

A:  The code says that you can run it for protection so that area where the horse can get to it running in conduit

          by|Sep 27, 2022

A:  You can but I would suggest using the heavier gauge metal conduit not pvc. Never know what the horses will chew on.

            by|Sep 28, 2022

A:  That's correct, NMC cable cannot be run in condiut. It should be run to a junction box and changed over to conduit in which you need to run THHW wire in the conduit.

How can you rate the wire when you purchase it. I had no problem finding the correct wire in the electrical department. The only comment is this wire is very expensive to buy so I will only give it a four star.

Easy to cut and wire into existing wires. Love the thickness of the wires not very easy to bend. I really needed a 12/2. Not a 12/3 however this is what the salesman recommended to wire up a outside ceiling patio fan with remote. Made it work i just had to tie off the 1 extra wire. Overall great product.

                Sheathing way too thin
It’s criminal how thin the sheathing on the wire is. It’s getting thinner each year. Years ago you could run a cheese grater over the wire and nothing happened; now two wires going through the same hole (e.g. (2) 12-3 in a 1” hole) causes the sheathing to split and tear. Again, amazed how thin it’s gotten, all to save a lousy few pennies on cost!
