The Romex Type NM-B Copper Building Wire is thoughtfully designed with a patented SIMpull Cable Jacket, greatly facilitating pulling, stripping, and installation processes. Its prevalent use in residential building wiring as a branch circuit for switches and outlets underscores its reliability and practicality. Suitable exclusively for above-ground installation within dry environments, this cable boasts a sturdy voltage rating of 600-volts, ensuring robust performance. Notably, the NM-B cable offers versatile placement options, allowing it to be safely routed through air voids in masonry block or tile walls, provided these walls remain free from dampness. A point of pride, this cable is proudly manufactured in the United States, reflecting a commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

Hello, thank you for your question. This answer will require a more technical response. Please reach out to our technical team at cableteachsupport@southwire.com for a detailed explanation of your question.
No. Conduit is a wet location. Not rated for wet locations
Hello, and thank you for your question. 75 ft. 6/3 Stranded Romex SIMpull CU NM-B W/G Wire may be used for both exposed and concealed work in normally dry locations. If you have any additional questions or feedback, please reach out to us at consumersupport@southwire.com.
No, it will not. #1. Feeder or branch-circuit conductors generally must have an ampacity not less than the noncontinuous load plus 125 percent of the continuous load (NEC 215.2(A)(1) or 210.19(A)(1), respectively). For a 50 A load, that means an ampacity of at least (50 x 1.25 =) 62.5 A. Since NM-B cable ampacities are limited to no more than those of 60°C-rated conductors (NEC 334.80), 6 AWG copper NM-B has an ampacity of 55 A (NEC 310.16). #2. A 50 Amp receptacle requires four wires, including the ground (NEC 551.71(C) and Figure 551.46(C)(1)). The 6/2 NM-B contains only three wires, including the ground. #3. Type NM-B cable is an indoor, dry location only product (NEC 334.10(A)(1)). It is not permitted in wet or damp locations (NEC 334.12(B)(4)). You may use our Re3™ Building Wire Selector to help find the right wire/cable. The above recommendations are based on Southwire’s general interpretations of the latest codes and standards including NFPA 70® National Electrical Code® Edition 2023 and the applicable UL standards. It is the sole responsibility of a licensed electrician and the discretion of the local AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) to approve all the wire and cable products and installation methods to be used for a specific application at different locations. There might be local regulations or unique environmental factors that might limit the use of a specific product. Additionally, the same type of product manufactured by different vendors might also have an impact on the applications. As a result, our answers to this request above are for reference only, and we strongly advise the end users to consult with a licensed electrician and the local AHJ before purchasing and installing any Southwire products. Click on the 'View More Details' link on the product page leads to some Southwire information and chart showing this 6/3 wG wire weights some 360 pounds for 1,000 feet which works out to - by my math - some 45 pounds for this 125 foot roll.
Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. The 6/3 NM-B wire itself doesn't require conduit if installed according to the National Electrical Code (NEC) guidelines for dry, protected locations. However, if the wire needs protection or is run through areas not defined as dry and protected, conduit is necessary. The conduit size depends on several factors, including the number of wires in the conduit and the type of conduit used (metallic or non-metallic). It's best to consult the NEC or a qualified electrician to determine the correct conduit size for your specific application. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.
