Why does this product not warn that at least one end has to be a bulkhead connection?

Asked by Chris April 11, 2021

Answer

Not sure what you mean? Both ends are standard fitting used in residential electrical work. One end is straight and one end has an elbow for greater flexibility. I removed one end, shortened the flex and reinstalled the fitting without issue to match the length needed for my water heater.

Are both fittings 90 degree or is one of them straight?

Asked by Bob September 19, 2020

One straight. One 90 Purchase another straight one which had a tightening nut for the conduit connection as the one that came with it was a forced in connection.

Yes, but it is a pain in the rear end to remove once they are put on.

If it's empty, why does the last bullet say, "Stranded copper THHN/THWN conductors" ?

Mine was empty. Inductor size can vary and is determined by the item you are powering.

Can it be cut to size as needed?

The product is fine but, it was not the correct size for my application. The 1/2" is what was needed to make the fittings work on the new pool pump motor. "Measure twice and cut once". Well measure the diameter of the fitting to the hole on your application for proper fitment would have been helpful!! My Bad..product Good. After application of the 1/2" Ulratite Liquidtight conduit I had a successful install!

Do not purchase this product if you are screwing each fitting into conduit.
This product is a piece of crap! Its fine if one of the ends will be a bulkhead through wall type connection. However, if you are screwing both ends into a threaded fitting this is not the product for you. The nuts are fake. You have to twist the flex itself clockwise to seat it in the fitting for both ends. Who makes a stupid product like this! I dropped 60' of 14/3 cable into a well, passed the cable through the 90 degree end which I have screwed into the 3/4" NPT well cap electrical port. Passed the cable through the flex and into a 12' run of buried conduit which I had screwed the provided straight connector into. I then proceeded to loosen the nuts to secure the flex. Wait, what? fake nuts! What a piece of crap. No instructions, no warning that one end has to be a bulkhead connection. Yes, it had orings and a nut to make a bulkhead connection, but so does all brands of flex conduit. Did I mention this product is a piece of crap.

This is decent conduit, but the interior isn't terribly slick, so you'll want a wire lubricant if you have to pull cable through any significant length of it. Also, it's not flexible enough for tight turns, so you may want to cut it, put in a right-angle joint, and then resume the conduit on the other side. It's easy to cut with a hacksaw or similar and probably with a PVC cutter.
