Can this be ran in the attic?? since it will be such a hassle to run this cable under the driveway to get to the other side, i was thinking if i can run the cable up the wall into the attic and come out the other side. only partial of the wire will be in the attic, like around 20 ft. Yes/No? Thanks
Asked by: PPPPPPP
Physically, no reason that it could not. Since it is low voltage, there is a very low risk of electrical problems. However, one small spark in the wrong place is a fire. That said, I have no idea about the local code requirements that might apply. It is you house, so you can do pretty much whatever you wish. There is normally a functional limit of about 150' from the power source to the far end of the cable.

Opening the flaps revealed the dark spiral of wire, it's dull black sheath standing in contrast to the every day brown of the packaging. In the laboratory, stripping the ends of the cable freed the bright, twisted strands. The tiny strings of copper glistened in the warm T8 LED glow of the overhead lamps. I felt an immediate connection - was required the the low voltage transformer. A suitable yard lamp was acquired; the teeth of is connecting jaws sank effortlessly into the soft flesh of the cable. Connections were completed at the transformer, screws tightened securely. With the firm confidence of a technician, I switched the power on. Success! The electrons furiously crowded the dark cased highway of copper and instantly converted their exuberance into the lamp's soft glow. Soon other lamps would bite into that dark highway of energy and begin their service as shining sentinels stationed along the winding flower bed.

Gets buried with no complaints, bends, and even conducts electricity, what more could you want! Accepts stripping, splicing, cutting with barely a peep. Copper is the new gold standard, save money, buy copper wire.

Easy to work with and as long as you use silicone ceiling wire knots for underground outside low-voltage lighting, it will work properly. Only received four stars because very difficult to see indicating words and both at sizing on the wire it’s self.

I ordered this because I needed less than the 100ft standard size and did not want to waste wire.It came on a small wooden spool, a little overkill for 70 ft of wire but probably easier for them package and ship that way.
