Unfortunately, this wire too small for your application.

Will it run a 100 amp panel box 250"-0 from a 200 amp panel box in the house off a 100 amp breaker

Asked by RichardM May 30, 2017

Answer

Unfortunately this wire is too small to work for your application. We could recommend having 1 conductors per phase utilizing a #400 Aluminum conductor will limit the voltage drop to 2.94% or less when supplying 100.0 amps for 250 feet on a 120 volt system. The above advice is based upon the current edition of the National Electric Code (NEC). Free access to the latest version of the NEC is available online at www.nfpa.org/freeaccess. The NEC and local building codes regulate the types of wire and cable that can be used in specific electrical applications, as well as the manner of installation. Check your local building codes before you start any wiring and cable electrical project and be sure to obtain required permits. When your work is complete, always have it inspected for compliance with local codes to ensure that it has been safely installed.

What size conduit would I use on a 400 foot run with 1/0-1/0-1/0 Black Stranded Al URD Bergen Cable

Answer

You will need to check with the local building inspectors in your areas to determine which items meet code in your area. Codes do vary from municipality to municipality, and can change over a short period of time.

7 years and holding up
I added 2 100 amp panels 100 ft+ away one washer and dryer and the other for air conditioning from my 200 amp service. I have half a reel left over. Voltage is good. Everything functions properly and no lag. I also added the anti corrosive grease to the exposed areas and they still look nice and greasy. This wire is extremely hard to bend a few inches and the individual wires break if bent outside the sheathing.
