What size knockout does the factory-installed fitting connect in to?

Asked by electrician March 6, 2021
1
Answer

Unfortunately, the product catalog sheet does not include this information, but I will link it here for further assistance regarding this product. However, since the MC Cable that is used in this construction has an outer diameter of 0.475", the fitting size (knockout size) is likely 0.5". Yes, just use the appropriate conduit cutter size to make your cut to length needed and reinstall fitting and wire bushing protector.

What J box and fitting fit the ends of this cable?

The ends snap into a standard 1/2" knockout. Any standard junction box will work.

Will this work to wire a 220v outlet to my braker?

Asked by DIYokie January 15, 2021
1
Answer

It might, but there are much better ways. If your plug has three prongs on it, you can use 12-2 wire. If your plug has four prongs, you will need 12-3 wire. 12 garage wire will only handle 20 amps. So make sure you select the proper gauge wire.

Sure. They are really intended to save the electrician time by not requiring work to terminate the wires. That's the advantage over just making them yourself. Time is money, even for a DIYer.

Yes, it's a push on, and you can easily just pull it off. I just did that so I could put on a different size that would fit in my garbage disposal.

Big time saver! Saw some folks complain about the stiffness of 12/2, but I didn't have that experience. Maybe they should have gone with 14/2? This isn't anything like as hard as the really old #12 in my house, that stuff is stiff! This was great. Just punch the knockouts in the boxes, and click the flex conduit into place. Finish the wiring. No cutting, no end fitting assembly. If you can find it in the length you need, it is really fast. I used it to add a GFCI extension for power to a new air compressor location.

Product met my expectation as to what I was looking for. Easy to install. Just wish that it was available in 6 foot length like the 14/2 cable. Due to it's 8 foot length had to route it a different way.
