It will depend on the amount of current that you are planning on putting on the wire. Since its 240v the currrent seen will be smaller than if you were running 120v.

Good for 200amp service entrance?

Asked by Jimbo September 15, 2018

Answer

Please consult your local electrician. The above advice is based upon the current edition of the National Electric Code (NEC). Free access to the latest version of the NEC is available online at www.nfpa.org/freeaccess. The NEC and local building codes regulate the types of wire and cable that can be used in specific electrical applications, as well as the manner of installation. Check your local building codes before you start any wiring and cable electrical project and be sure to obtain required permits. When your work is complete, always have it inspected for compliance with local codes to ensure that it has been safely installed.

That should work fine. I just used it for a similar set up, but for 200amps. You might actually only need 1/0 wire for 100 amps, but this 2/0 will work too. Dont forget to use Noalox on the aluminum wire connections for anti corrosion protection and to torque the connectors to spec., usually about 20 ft pounds.

Would this be o.k to run 95' (actual length) in a 2" PVC chase tube from Meter Base to Breaker Pa...

I think this would overall be fine. Just remember that per NEC code you cannot run aluminum wire into the building. So if your sub panel or breaker box is inside, then the aluminum wire would have to come into the wall-ceiling at some point and attached in the panel. Aluminum wire is meant to come up through conduit on the exterior of a structure and enter a panel attached to it. At no time actually going inside the building. Then copper romex, 12/2, etc. runs from the panel to inside the building. You would need copper 2/0, 1/0 if your panel is inside the building.

is this wire insulated/jacketed? Cause in the specifications it says no

Asked by DWM September 1, 2017

Answers

Yes, the wire is insulated with a hard, but flexible jacket protecting the aluminum wire itself and making it suitable for direct-burial in the ground.

Wire performed (is performing) just fine. The first 18" or so of the spool was scuffed up, so I had to cut that off, not too big of a deal. I found buying a spool of this and cutting 3 lines to the needed length and adding a 4th smaller cable was much less expensive than buying the MHF wire that comes in 2/0 -2/0 2/0- 2. I used this for an underground burial in conduit to a 125 amp service in a detached garage about 130' from my meter.
