SpreadRock is not speckled paint. It is an actual layer of rock that spreads on like butter and adds instant beauty and elegance to all kinds of existing concrete floor and wall surfaces as well as masonry, drywall, statuary, planters and more. SpreadRock's real stone composition is not applied by roller. Instead, it is easily applied in a thin uniform layer using a scraper, trowel or flooring squeegee and can even be applied with a texture sprayer. SpreadRock's visual effect is timeless and stunning and will serve you well wherever you live. Harsh winter cold and punishing summer heat and sun are powerless against it, whether used on a patio, pool deck, porch or wall. It also makes for a beautiful and incredibly tough garage floor or other interior surface that can last for years.

Q:Can this be applied to plywood vertically for an outside bar front?

Answer This Question

A:  Hello! Yes, SpreadRock is used on all kinds of walls and other vertical surfaces to add a tough and attractive granite stone layer that stands up to all climate conditions, as well as typical impact and abrasion that may be encountered. Just use a trowel to apply SpreadRock (or a hopper gun texture sprayer) to the wall, and smooth with a squeegee trowel or DAICH Surface Smoother. Allow it to dry for 24 hours and then seal it with DAICH Hi-Build Ultra for lasting dirt and water repellency. Thanks for your great question!

      junk
absolute junk! installed on my patio as directed. product has turned into gravel and small sheets of material. the failure point was the primer. the primer bonded to the concrete and to the spread rock but the cohesion of the primer itself was nonexistent. worthless junk don't waste your time or money

        Very nice....BUT
The final result was very nice...but...the sq ft coverage stated by the company is way off. Plan on using 2 to 3 times the amount they state. Also..Spreading takes much more work than they show in their video especially for the edges of the surface being covered.

        Best Outcome With This Paint
Our front sidewalk was plain old concrete and just looked awful. After researching possible (and not too expensive) options, we selected this paint. Almost a year later and there has been no issues with this paint at all. Still looks as good as the day we did it. A few tips: 1. We power washed the sidewalk 2. The concrete was already very old so no need to use any other type of cleaner or solvent on it. 3. It took just under a gallon of paint 4. We live in FL so this sidewalk takes a beating from rain and heat and it still looks great.

I spent over 4 hours between stirring/mixing and spreading. It looks just like gray cement. It was supposed to be gray with black & white pebble looking mix. I could have just spent $20 dolla4s for concrete mix. The concept is great but need to improve quality checks when preparing the final mixture.

I would recommend Spreadrock Granite but I assure you that you will need double the quantity than it suggests to cover the area your applying Spreadrock Granite too. It looks great but the supposed coverage , incorrect.

          My Experience
Tackled a 1200 Sq/Ft multilevel patio and it turned out really nice. First and foremost preparation is key. To be really successful with this product you need to get down to concrete with no residual coatings. I rented both a scrapper and a grinder to accomplish this removing a rustoleum 10X coating product followed by a through power washing. Then filled all joints with sikaflex self leveling sealant along with other minor holes using sikaflex construction sealant. Also used some self leveling underlayment in a low area. If you have any, and i mean any holes, depressions, etc you will not get the coverage expected. Applied two coats of the primer via brush and 18 inch roller. The containers of primer had more than 5 gallons as did the sealer which resulted in extra product. The roller rock containers were right at 5 gallons. Difficult to apply thin enough coats with squeegee so i reverted to a pool trowel. Did get the expected coverage as the coats were as thin as i could get them. Some tips. You cannot apply this on surfaces with direct sunlight. You should thin the product the recommended amount with water. Mechanically mix bucket more than once while applying. Don't apply when surface temperature is over 80. Trowel versus squeegee. Its not easy but it looks wonderful when done and appears very durable.

Looks great. Lots of compliments. I used 25 gallons total for two coats on 600 square feet. I pressure washed, applied muriatic acid, pressure washed again, primed, applied the two coats, and then applied two coats of sealant. It’s only been two weeks, in mild Northwest weather. I can’t speak for it’s durability. The application was not as easy as painting, but not difficult. I used a rubber squeegee on a broomstick. The mixing took time, but I did it by hand. It helps to work in small sections and spray lightly with water if any of it starts to dry out before being fully spread. Thorough mixing is important.
