Customer Reviews

4-3/4 in. Flush Cut Pull Saw is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good for it's stated purpose Judging from some of the reviews, I think some people are expecting more from this saw than Dewalt ever intended for it to deliver. This is a light-duty saw for use in cutting dowels, plugs, and pocket hole plugs flush with the surface without marring the wood. It does that quite well. I would never use this for cutting door casing, door bottoms, or window trim. A few tips might be helpful: - Alternate teeth either have no set or are set to the top. This prevents marring the wood surface so long as you keep the right side facing up. - Because there is no bottom set, the saw cuts very slowly and has a tendency to bind if you push it. That is the trade off for not scratching up the surface of the wood. Be patient and don't push it. - The saw cuts on the pull stroke only, There is no point in stressing the push stroke. - A little paste wax on the blade lasts a long long time and makes sawing much easier. - I find it easiest to place a couple fingers on top of the blade while sawing with the other hand. This keeps the blade flush with the wood and limits binding. The blade binds when it flexes past the limits of the cut line, so keeping it flush with the surface goes a long way to eliminate binding. It is definitely too bad that nobody carries replacement blades. You can get them through Stanley but the shipping costs make it a deal breaker. Still the saw is inexpensive so maybe that is a wash. One bonus is that the handle can also be used with most hacksaw and recip saw blades, so when it comes time to replace this saw, the handle can still have a purpose. I hope this helps someone.

The ability to change blades is key because it is inevitable with use one will accidentally break, bend, or ruin the teeth.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slow cutter I purchased the saw yesterday so I could cut off the lower portion of my doors frames throughout my house since I am replacing all the carpet with hardwood and the hardwood doesn't fit under the frames. The saw does not cut very fast. If you exert too much force it just binds the saw up. The blade is very flexible and made it possible to make a nice straight cut 1/2" off the floor and stay parallel. However, the thin blade broke on the third door frame of six. I think this saw would be better used on smaller items where you have better control. I cut the remaining frames with a sawsall.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works good, but replacement blades are not available this saw actually works well. Although I wouldn't use it to regularly trim door casings, it can be done with some skill and care. My big gripe is that replacement blades are NOT available through Home Depot as far as I can tell. It seems to be the same saw provided by Stanley under the "FatMax" brand. I would have ranked it much higher if replacement blade were available.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not satisfied I got this to cut door jamb, It did not work. It is very flimsy, may work for very small jobs but i do not see a need for it right now. so i have to buy another tool to complete door jamb job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent saw for the right situation As others have noted, the blade is very flexible and not suitable for undercutting door jambs unless you are ok with just pulling. However, for other purposes, such as flush cutting dowels for example, it excels. It is extremely sharp, cuts quickly and this is one example where the flexible blade makes all the difference. I would call this more of a specialty saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, cheap flush cut saw I feel obligated to write this review because of the poor reviews written by people unfamiliar with the use of this saw. This saw is designed cut only on the pull stroke. If you want to push and pull, then yes, the blade will buckle and potentially break. I cut through 2 3/4 inch oak dowels, 4 1.5 inch oak dowels, and 2 white wood 2x4s with this so far, and it still cuts pretty fast. Not bad for a $13 tool. Those 1.5 inch oak dowels were cut along the curve of a rocker for a rocking chair and the performance was good. In short, this is a good tool if you use it properly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Waste Your Time or Money Blade broke at the handle while cutting a piece of door casing. Got a whole 3 minutes of use out of this tool before having to try to figure out how to bring it back.
