No 62 low angle jack
Packaging well done. No cosmetic problems. Blade super polished. Whispy thin shavings right away after proper setup right out of the box. Sole flat. Sides square. Heavy weight so pushes thru nicely compared to my Bailey no. 5. So far.....could not be more pleased. You will NOT find a better all around plane for this kind of money. It literally will take rough sawn lumber to that of a smoothing plane. The only drawback for me is the Norris adjuster. Not a fan of that style but you just get used to how it works and its all good. Adjustments become more familiar and easy with use. Kinda wish the adjustment was set up like the Lie Nielsen version but its not worth the extra money. I believe these planes come out of Connecticut so they are made in the USA. If you're looking for a quality plane that does rough sawn to smoothing to end grain shooting with the performance of a high end plane, this is it!

Returned the first one, I will keep the second one
First plane body was out of square and bed was not parallel with the sole which prevented adjusting for an even thickness cut across the width of the blade. Blade was flat and sharp but chipped out of the box. Home Depot accepted the return - no hassle. Ordered a second one (10% price increase from the first order happened in the interim). Blade was flat and sharp out of the box, plane body was reasonably square, bed parallel with the sole so it can be adjusted for an even cut. Sole of the plane is flat. Norris style blade adjuster is a bit sloppy due to excessive tolerance fitting into the bed of the plane. I made some passes on a piece of walnut on edge and end grain. See picture. I will keep this one.

Worth the money. I'd put off buying one because of the price tag and I thought I wouldnt use it that much, but I was wrong. I'm taking shavings off just about every board that goes into my projects, now. Was usable right outta the box, just had to adjust the depth of the blade, but it was sharp and the sole was flat.

A couple of very minor defects in the sole, easily fixed. Blade needs initial honing, which is to be expected. Overall, works very well out of the box with minor tuning. A great value for the price!

I bought this plane a few weeks ago with the intention of using it with a shooting board but the right side of the plane body is not square to the sole by a few thousands, not a large error but enough to cause a gap in the joint. The was a small burr on the right side top edge that magnified the problem, I easily removed the burr with a hand fileut it was still out of square. Other than the out of square condition this plane is a good buy for the money. The blade is hefty, came with a decent edge, required only minor work to get it razor sharp and flat on the back. The cap screw could be a little easier to grip, maybe a little taller. If not for the square problem I would have given it 5 stars. I may either try to exchange it or have the side machined square.

The Stanley #62 Sweetheart plane I received had the paint touched up in three locations. The blade was sharp, but needed a lot of tuning to get it to cut efficiently. I would not but this again, this is not the Stanley of the old days.

This plane definitely met my expectations. I initially tried the Tay Tools version but quickly returned it and gave this one a try. While I know it's not going to be at the level of a Veritas, it is well made and took very little effort to get this working fantastically. It needed minimal flattening and the iron took just a little work to get it razor sharp. Overall, I am very happy with this and would enthusiastically recommend it to anyone wanting to get low angle jack.

Ultimately the plane met my expectations and I think it represents value for the investment. Initially, I had a bad experience, in that the first one shipped to me had clearly been a return and was unusable as it didn't even include the iron. Customer Service was excellent, though, and the replacement is as expected. I have not yet taken the time to tune it. I cleaned it, and tightened the tote, that's it. The only troublesome thing in that process was that some of the paint rubbed off during the light cleaning, and thus one star off. The sole is flat and square (some machine marks, but eventually those will take care of) and the iron was fine (though some tuning will make it better). It was easy to adjust and with just a few minutes of setup, it was taking full width, even, shavings off the edge of a 2x4. Not a rigorous test, but enough to know it will work as it should. I think it has good heft and that its easy to let momentum carry it forward, without being too heavy. It certainly lacks the refinement a Veritas, but is $125 cheaper, so is that really a reason to mark it down? In sum, I'm happy with it right out of the box. I'm equally sure that if I devote even a small amount of time to tuning it properly, I'll be very happy.
