A:  Hello John, Sterilite only uses high quality FDA food safe grade plastics that are non-toxic. These plastics do not contain PVC's, Latex, Teflon, Phthalates chemicals, fungicides, Bishphenol A (BPA), or antibacterial chemicals. Nor do we use them in the manufacturing process of our items.

    A:  I didn't see that in any describtion. I do use mine to store vacuum sealed food. I wouldn't put loose food in it.

      A:  The container is clear and the lid is a light color so it should be food grade. The lid does fit very tight but I'm not sure if it is air tight

            Great for the top of your closet shelf
            I bought these to store items in the top of my closet. I used them for tank tops, summer T-shirts, etc. Some went on lower shelves with the lids under them for belts and socks so that I could just pick what I wanted out. I also used them to sort out unfinished projects and ribbons for Christmas. I then put full sticky backed post-its on each one labeled with a black marker.

            Good inexpensive storage box. You'd think buying at home depot I am probably using it for shop or garage storage, or maybe toys or bobbles. Well you would be wrong, I'm using it in the kitchen to keep store bought cakes and such things. Now you're surely thinking this box isn't made for food. Why not the price is half what you'd pay for food storage and its just as good for items that don't require air sealed containers. Thinking "outside the box" pun intended, I'm so proud of myself.

            As a Professional Organizer, these are my #1 go to containers when I am organizing my clients.
            These fabulously versatile containers are just the right size for SO many projects. I have been a Professional Organizer for over 12 years and I always carry about 15-20 of them in my car for my clients as they are PERFECT for lots of different spaces. I use them in the pantry (without the lids) for storing snacks, pastas - grouping items by type. I use them in the garage to corral small tools, spray paints, garden items (I label them for easy identification). I use them on office shelves for grouping stationary supplies, manual and warranties (they are just the right size for 8x11" papers). They are great in a playroom for arts and crafts, small toys, playdough and so much more.

              use for litter box I
              I have used this container for 5 litter boxes by cutting partway down from the top leaving a 3.5 inch depth. It is the BEST litter box I have ever used. Super easy to clean, keeps the litter from spilling all over, and does not have any groves in the bottom where used litter might stick. Yes I know you make litter boxes, but this superpasses all due to the smoothness of the plastic, the height, and ease of cleaning. we have a total of 12 cats so these have been extremely helpful. So glad I found this use for this product.

                Laptop computer stand
                Sitting too long is the new NO-NO in office ergonomics and general health. I wondered what to use as a notebook computer stand. Looking around the house I spotted what had once been the storage box for the cat's dry food --- a Sterilite clear 1644. It is now in service as you can see in the attached photo.
