What type of water filter is recommended?
      ByNov 2, 2025
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

Consult a local plumber to see what you have for minerals in your water and then install the proper filter. Calcium and sediment are the 2 most common elements to protect your water heater from. But depending on your location, you may have lime or other minerals to keep in mind. If you have any questions, you can all call our Tech Support Department at 1-800-582-8423 Ext 6 Thank you!

Standard tank you get 50 gallons of hot water on demand How much continuous hot water do you get on a tankless hot water tank
        ByJul 14, 2025
        1 Answer |
        Answer This Question

Tankless units are measured in Gallons Per minute. Depending on your incoming water temperature, it could range from 4-6 GPM for as long as you are running a hot water fixture. If you have any questions, please feel free to call our Tech Support Dept at 1-800-582-8423 Ext 6 Thank you

I’m using 1/2 water line will that be good enough or do I need to go larger on the cold side ?

          Answer This Question

1/2 pipe is fine. You will just need an 3/4" adaptor to connect to our unit. If you have any questions, please feel free to call our Tech Support at 1-800-582-8423 Ext 6 Thank you!

I am building a pole barn style garage. I plan to have a shop sink and an outdoor shower. I am in E. TN. What model would suit me best? I will have a 200 A service. Looking at the Tempra 15.
            ByJun 19, 2025
            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

My first thought was the Tempra 15 Plus or the Tempra 20 Plus as long as only 1 fixture is running at a time. IF you want both to run at the same time, the demand of hot water would lead you to the Tempra 24 Plus then. IF you have any questions, please all our Tech Support Line at 1-800-582-8423 Ext 6 Thank you!

How many showers can this unit handle? I have 4 showers in the Condo.

              Answer This Question

This is not enough information to size this properly. Please call the office at 800-582-8423 ext 6. This heater can draw 150 amps. Do you have the electrical service to install this heater in a condo. We do not recommend this heater on a 200 amp panel.

for the 36 Plus model, for a temperature rise of 50 degrees, what is the minimum flow rate. would appreciate an on line response.
                ByAug 27, 2024
                1 Answer |
                Answer This Question

The minimum flow rate to activate the unit is 0.8 GPM. To acheive a 50 degree rise in temperature, you can get up to 5 GPM of water flow. IF you have any questions, please feel free to call Tech Support at 1-800-582-8423 Ext 6 Thank you

Do not purchase if you live in Florida
If you live in Florida and you do not have a water softener do not purchase this water heater. I’ve had mine a little over 3 years and they have replaced it once and now the new one stopped working and it’s just out of warranty. They said it’s from our hard water. Would have been good to know before purchasing in the first place.

Florida water does have a lot of different minerals. Any water heater you go with should have a softener / mineral filter to proctect it. Doesn't matter if it is a tank type, electric or gas heater. Just a thought to make them last longer. JGMasterSTELogin
Second Unit only lasted a Year and a half!!!
First unit failed after 3 years. Received and installed a refurbished unit from the Stiebel Eltron. They sent a refurbished unit that only lasted a year and a half. Followed all recommended install practices, installed a sediment filter on the unit, maintained our home's water softener, and flushed the unit, but it still failed. I'm begging you, do not buy one of these. You will be money in the bank if you buy a traditional electric water heater.

Depending on your area and water quality, you may need more than a sediment filter. A mineral filter to match your water quality would be better to install. Also, a solution designed to clean a tankless water such as Flow Aide should be used. Sorry to hear you had this experience but sounds more of water quality issue. JGMasterSTELogin

                      So far so good
We replaced two electric water heater tanks with this one on demand unit. Been a very cold winter so far here in Halifax and no issues with it supplying hot water. Haven’t seen a power bill yet to compare but hopeful for some savings. Love the peace of mind of no water tank to fail and leak and the gained room by eliminating the tanks. Gives us two extra storage spaces. Very easy to install. Plumbed it so it can easily be flushed with vinegar to remove any scale buildup that may develop.
