The Stinger CH38A Auto feed Cap Hammer delivers the holding power of a cap with the speed and ease of a hammer tacker. The Stinger CH38A features gravity feed mechanism allowing the tool to airlessly deliver a 1 in. plastic cap with a 3/8 in. staple without a trigger. The CH38A is for use securing roofing underlayment's, felt and house wrap.

Left Hander?

AnswersMy grandson is left handed, I am right handed......somewhat awkward using it left handed....built more for right handed individuals, in my opinion. Plastic caps are appx 1/16 of an inch thick....they do hold, if you can get the staple (3/8) hammered in. Like a right-handed gun.....a left handed individual can shoot it, but comfort comes from using a left handed weapon.....ergonomics.
Can the CH38A use aluminum staples?

Cumbersome, auto feed mechanism gets in the way. It’s also hard to you on 16 OC studs when insulating, it requires a 90 degree angle when slapping or hammer and overeat doing that is challenging.

Auto feed takes a knack to get the buttons to come out correctly to match the staples. 3/8” depth staples have little to no holding power. I used this to put down roofing underlayment while it was beginning to rain. It was fast. But in the end the side with 1” hand nailed plastic caps lasted weeks. These blew off as soon as the wind picked up. Returned.

This tool did speed up the tacking of Tyvek but had issues. As others have stated, if you do not present the face of the stapler flat to surface it will misapply staple and cap. The other issue I encountered was that the staple feed spring assembly would fly out along with staples if hit too hard.
