What is included with 3000 e system?

Asked by Customer November 22, 2019

Hello, Thank you for your question. All Centrex 3000 electric units feature a 370 watt 120 volt thermostatically controlled heater in a sealed compartment beneath the unit coupled with the standard Sun-Mar 30 watt turbo fan and 2" vent stack. This heater assists in evaporation of liquids, reducing the amount of effluent from the unit. The fan also removes any fresh odors from the unit, ensuring odor-free operation. All Centrex 3000 series units are supplied with a 1" drain hose which should be connected to the 1" drain at the bottom left of the unit. In addition to this, all units will come with approximately 10 feet worth of 2" PVC Pipe, couplings and elbows for venting, a diffuser cap for the top end of the vent, a hardware kit, starting materials and of course the warranty card and owner's manual. Please do not hesitate to contact Sun-Mar should you have any additional questions: Toll Free at 1-888-341-0782 Ext. 232. Thank you.

What is the average time of use before it has to be emptied?

Asked by Adam January 11, 2019

Hello Adam, Thank you for your question. Emptying or taking out finished compost from a Centrex 3000 is very simple - in fact, the Centrex 3000 is the only system where you do not need to use the finishing drawer to take out finished compost (or dirt, soil, fertilizer etc.). Instead, unique to this particular system, finished compost will automatically drop into the collection chamber at the end of the unit. Due to it's extra-high capacity, the Centrex 3000 central composting system incorporates the autoflow design which allows material to move along from one end of the bio-drum to the very far end of it. In doing so, the material is converted into fertilizer (finished compost or dirt) before it reaches the collection chamber. Thus, one would simply just remove the top of the chamber (easy lifts off) and gauge whether there is enough material in there to use (on grass, trees, flowers and plants etc.) or not enough and would prefer to accumulate more instead. For residential applications, where it will be used everyday, typically you would check/empty the collection chamber once every three-four months. For weekend/vacation and seasonal applications, typically you would empty the collection chamber once-twice a year. Please do not hesitate to contact Sun-Mar should you have any additional questions - Toll Free at 1-888-341-0782 Ext. 232. Thank you.

Can a standard toilet work with this system?

Asked by Chris November 26, 2016

Unfortunately no, you would want to use an ultra low flush, 1 pint flush toilet.

I have been using this unit with a Dometic 510 low water toilet for 3 months now and haven't had any issues. When you first install the unit, make sure to read the instructions carefully. I didn't put a full back for Compost Sure Blue in like you are supposed to and things weren't looking good. After I read the directions and added one of the two bags that came to "prime" it with compost, it's been working really well. My screen hasn't clogged yet and there's only a minor odor outside for a couple of seconds when I turn the crank after adding the two cups of sure blue every day.

I love it!

I bought this unit 5 years ago and I love it! If anyone is unhappy with this product it's because they are not using it correctly. If the proportions of moisture, waste and bacteria are correct, the composter puts out beautiful black compost. I bought a unit for my cottage and I went a little bigger than what I would need anticipating a time when I might get to spend more time there. I empty it in the spring and in the fall. It took me awhile to get used to how much moisture to add. At first there were too many wood shavings in the compost. But after adding a bit more water to the flush, I've corrected that. There is no smell whatsoever unless you stick your nose right into the compost bin opening and why would you want to do that? To the reviewer who is not satisfied with the product, I would recommend calling the customer service line at Sunmar. They are located in Burlington (conveniently for me as I live in Hamilton) and were quite helpful and patient when I called them initially with compost woes.

bad experience

We have got that product via Home depot and are very badly unsatisfied. The apparently good combine of micro flush and compost unit is a total failure. The design is not good, the holes for drawers are too low (barely higher than the overflow out going), dangerously close to the "evaporation" chamber which in fact is hardly evaporating anything, compared to the liquids going trough the overflow. So the ecological point is lost. Plus the composting is not adequate because of anaerobic conditions and must end up in being of a very poor quality because of leaching. And the bad smell is spreading inside, in spite of that noisy fan that is supposed to bring it out trough the vent: Water and organic matter is a bad combination.
