    Install tip
you can see in my pictures, the wire has floated to the top of the cement where it wasn't glued. You can also see that the mesh from the heat mat has floated up. HD should allow more the two lines of text for complete, honest review.

I have put this in every bathroom I ever re-do. I even put this in my apartments. I like the simpler thermostat better—has less bells and whistles, and we can all do with less bells and whistles in tis modern era. People love the warm floors next to clawfoot tubs and showers and toilets! I hope they keep carrying the easy mat style. I always use a four gang box and then put in a single gang mud-ring over the top. Once I used a single gang box only at 5 feet and it worked OK, just a little crowded. I have this in a beach cottage I built too, and it is deluxe as heck!

          doesn't radiate out
Had this installed this summer and love it. My only issue is that i was told the heat would radiate to the surrounding tiles so i didn't need to install on the whole floor. Not true. The tiles adjacent to where this is installed are cold as ice (figuratively). For the cost, i would have easily place it on the whole floor instead of the areas i thought i needed.

Worked as advertised. Contractor did not have any issues with installation. They were able to pour leveler right over top and then placed the thin-set and tiles without any issue. Seemed like easy install for experience contractor. I've had the floor heat on for about two weeks with the temp set at 76 degrees with the suggested digital thermostat. Its keeping the ceramic flooring nice and warm. I will buy again when I do the second bathroom.

            Very Disappointed!
I just purchased this item and had it professionally installed by my tile setter during my master bath renovation. Everything was installed correctly and the unit does work - but just barely! Even with the thermostat set at 90, it has barely warmed the initial coating of thin set mortar after nearly 5 hours of operation. There is NO way it will warm the floor when temperatures are actually cold. Unfortunately, this is an item that cannot be replaced once installed. DO NOT waste your money on this product - spend a little more and get a quality floor warmer.

            Warm Toes all Winter!
Great product, works well and I love the warm toes - no regrets there! I liked that you could cut and re-arrange where the heating sat Three things to be aware of: 1. You have to be VERY careful not to damage the wires. 2. The wires can make placing the tile uneven so you need to have fairly thick grout and lay the tile without your own weight on it. Obviously if you have a large area to cover, this could be difficult if you're laying from the center of the room and work yourself into a corner. 3. The instructions specifically say that the circuit should be 15 amps where my electrician said it should be 20 amps. You might want to calculate your load and clarify before you install.

Somewhat easy to install, keeps tile warm
Installed this during a bathroom remodel. I laid the mat to cover the high-traffic areas and cut one section on the end and flipped it around for coverage in front of the vanity. The directions are thorough. I used just a multimeter and kept good tabs on the OHMs. To protect the mat from the trowel cutting the wire while laying, I covered the smooth ends of my trowel with duct tape. This seemed to work well. I smoothed a skim coat over the mat then used a 1/4" trowel to lay the base. For areas with no mat under the tile I used a 1/2" trowel. This helped keep the tile level whether over the mat or not. Difficulties I ran into was the mat coming up with the thinset when I was smoothing the skim coat over. I learned to keep the trowel at an angle and not pull it straight off. The double-sided tap was helpful but thinset is sticky. Also, get the mat as flat as possible so it does not bunch up while you are skimming it with thinset. The last problem I had was my 'key tile' was on the mat which had covered the mark I had on the floor. Keep this in mind and plan that key tile well. It draws only 1.5 amps but I wired a sole 20 amp circuit for the mat and a GFCI outlet. I did not wire the thermostat for the mat as a load off the GFCI as the thermostat GFCI and outlet GFCI would trip each other. The mat takes about 10-15 minutes to warm the floor. I have never been on a heated floor and it does not get too hot. It is a little warmer than a wood floor. Nonetheless, it is much better than cold tile. I can certainly feel a major difference when I step on a heated mat area versus a non-heated area.

            Works great
Kids came home for Christmas and loved the new floor in the guest bathroom. It takes a long time to heat up over the concrete basement subfloor, but it is nice when it's ready. Keep your thinset thick. My tiles aren't perfect along the edge of the mat. You need to build up the area around the mat. Also, I didn't dig deep enough holes in the concrete subfloor. for the thermostat or the connections and they required a lot of building up thinset around them.
