being that this is "galvanized" does galvanized in this application mean that it is rated for exterior use?

Want to use this and cut it to needed size to vertically connect landscape timbers (also using nuts/washers) in an outdoor project. Does the galvanized aspect of this product protect itself against the weather elements and resist rust? Similarly to galvanized lag screws and carriage bolts, where the galvanized entity protects them from rust.
Asked by: BigE
For outdoor use, we recommend the stainless steel finish. Galvanized steel will provide a degree of protection, but ultimately over time, it will rust when used outdoors. And if the ends are cut, the steel will be bare and will rust more quickly than the finished steel.

I did not buy this rod for electric work but rather it will hold up a banner/ sign that I need to use at up coming festivals . Here is a picture of the banner, once the rod was bent it did a great job of nicely displaying my sign. The company that made the banner wanted $60 for a rod, I paid only $8 for this support rod, what a deal. Glad I found it at Home Depot!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its a threaded rod! Although described as being for electrical suspension applications, I successfully employed this rod to assist in supporting decorative constructions representing the hanging boughs of trees. Rods were easily cut and installed and with more than enough strength to do the job. Each Bough system weighed about 100 lb.s and was sheet-rock screwed into dropped ceiling support structure at several points. Each system then had two threaded rods running up into anchors in the concrete slab above (the dropped ceiling). Each rod expected to bear half the weight or around fifty lbs each (not accounting for the weight born by the dropped ceiling structure where screwed into). Easily within the capacity of these rods.
