The SEL 0.7-Watt White Integrated LED Emergency Light was shipped in a larger box to prevent damage. This is the first emergency light I have reviewed. I have seen the older bulky models that were made of metal and quite heavy with the lead battery's. This unit is light weight, has a low profile and foot print. It is light weight enough that it can be mounted to a sheet rock wall with simple sheet rock anchors with out going through the wall to studs . The NI-CAD battery pack is about the same size as 3 AA battery's, and on only a 1 hour charge it has powered the lights now for several hours. the LED'S are so bright it gave me eye spots from taking a picture. The lights them self's are adjustable as to where they face. It comes with 3 wire nuts but no mounting hardware. It only needs 2 wire power, it has a 120 Volt hot, a 277 volt hot and a common ground. The back plate has a verity of mounting hole knock outs and one in the center for power that is the same size knock out as modern outlet box's. It comes with instructions in English with pictures. It has a 5 year warranty

When I picked up this Sure-Lites LED emergency light model SEL17 to install in my utility room so when the power goes out I can see my circuit breaker panel box to connect my generator to it When I opened the lightbox my first impression was this light looks cheap then I noticed there are only one LED light on both sides of the fixture When I hooked the light up to the power it looks bright but when you mount it to the ceiling it wasn't very bright at all they should have put at least 3 LEDs on both sides of the fixture for better light output The light comes with a nice test button on the side of the fixture so you can test the batteries periodically and the test button turns red when the light has AC power connected to it The long-life NiCad battery seems to be efficient it will give you 90 minutes of light. This light is not made for long-term lighting I am rating this light at 3 stars due to the lack of light output I think Sure-Lites can do better

We live in an area of frequent power outages, and wanted an emergency light that would come on automatically when the power goes out. I’m remodeling the detached garage/shop and I installed one of these near the man door. It was pretty easy to install. It is wired for 120 or 240 AC. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. You can hang it up in an open position while you wire it, no balancing or holding it in your teeth while you work. It is lightweight and has a fairly clean design. The dish shaped LED reflectors swivel so that you can direct the light. The light is not super bright, but it is bright enough that you can find a tool and not stumble over stuff. I am happy with this product but I might look for something with a brighter light for my next installation.

This is my first emergency light for my home. It's OK but don't expect it to provide an abundance of light. I like the adjustable lights but it's not going to win any style contests. I can recommend it to people who want cheap emergency lighting but for people who want a top quality product that will put out an adequate amount of light they will have to look elsewhere. All in all, it's worth the money.

I used the bigger brother of this light in a commercial building where it was required by code. And it got me thinking how handy this same emergency lighting would be at home. Here in the NW, living in the trees and rain with long winter nights, we have minor power outages nearly every winter. These lights are designed to be hardwired into a junction box, but they draw very little power. Instead I used an extension cord (with the outlet end chopped off) , and wire nut connected inside the case, plenty of room. Located in a hallway on the way to the laundry room where the emergency flashlights and candles are kept. Plugged in, just sits there but power out, I'm able to safely get my other materials located and out for use. Very simple handy way to solve late night surprise outages. Light is pretty small, but bright, doesn't call attention to itself, except when it's doing its job.

The SEL 0.7 Watt Integrated LED Emergency Light is bright enough to illuminate a room. A great feature is that the lights turn on automatically when the power goes out so you are not left trying to find your way around in a dark area, until you find a flashlight. The LED canisters can be rotated in a full circle so that lighting can be directed where it is needed. It also has a test button so you can tell when the battery is charged. The fixture does have to be mounted into a junction box and it comes with everything needed, including a rechargable NiCd battery and clear directions. It is for indoor use only.

We got this emergency light to put up and install in our combo laundry, pantry and "mud room". We wanted to be able to have a good light source for when the power would go out to illuminate this area in the back of our home until we could get our generator fired up. The unit was easy to set up and install, and it provides a much needed emergency light source on the inside of a back door portion of our home, so we feel safer about that as well. We are quite happy with this unit.

This is a really nice emergency lighting unit that will turn on automatically when the power goes out. Although the battery looks to be a bit small it will run the lights for about 90 minutes. Wiring is fairly straightforward, although it can be wired for both 110 and 220. You will have to fiddle a bit with the knockouts to get them free during installation. For an inexpensive unit it was what I had expected, although if you have a larger space you may want to get a bigger model with brighter bulbs. However, this was perfectly adequate for a 20x20 space.

This is a LED emergency light. It has two very clever adjustable LED lights that can be directed up or down and left or right once mounted. It is meant to be hard wired with an included ni-cad rechargeable battery during power interruptions. The back mounting plate has an assortment of possible mounting possibilities, but a major design flaw is that none of these are factory drilled, nor is a cut out provided for the hard wiring; these slotted holes are difficult to field drill.

With the appearance of the 10 year battery operated smoke and CO detectors, that kind of renders the old "hard wired" smoke detectors obsolete, doesn't it? With this light, you can increase the safety of your property EVEN MORE! In my case, I can repurpose the existing hard wired smoke detector, and install this emergency light in it's place. Then, install a 10 year battery smoke / CO detector next to it. The lights themselves are very adjustable, look good and are VERY BRIGHT! Just know your stuff about electrical safety before doing this project.

Simple thing really. Charging circuit for the little battery, wire hook-up for either 120 or 220volts, test button and light. Not really sure how long that little battery pack will last, and it looks kind of proprietary to the manufacturer maybe, so battery replacement down the road could perhaps be an issue I think. LED so it's pretty bright, and I didn't have a problem getting the two lights aimed where I wanted. People might think it weird, but I put this in my living room actually. It's on the wall above a floating shelf, and things on the shelf kind hide it a little (white light on a brown wall). Moved things enough to get light out into the living room, hallway, and stairs down to the front door of the house. Wired it in on the circuit used by the smoke detector since they are near each other. It shines where I need it, and lights up enough area that in a power outage we can move around without fear of tripping over toys and stuff left on the floor, and move from the front door through the living room and kitchen to the garage with little trouble. I just wish the unit a little bit smaller in size over all, but otherwise it does what I need. I might even pull it down again to sand and paint it to match the wall better.
