This emergency light from Eaton/Cooper is well constructed with a heavy steel casing, and not for outdoor use. It can be wired for either 120 or 240 VAC usage. Installation should be done by someone with a knowledge of electricity, this is not really a project for the layperson. The LED lamps are very bright, and have a good degree of swivel & tilt positions. There is a battery test button on the bottom of the unit. The lights should stay lit for at least 90 minutes during an outage, though the longest outage I’ve experienced since installing it has been 15 minutes. I’m using this in a private home, and the brightness is more than adequate. I’m very pleased with the product, and will be adding a second one for the upstairs floor of my home in the future.

This is an inexpensive, very bright, yet well made emergency power failure light. It has a 20-Gauge sheet metal housing case, not plastic. It has two bright integrated LED lamps that provide lots of light, and they are on pivots so they can be directed 360° in any direction you desire. There is a test button that is illuminated red when power is on. Simply press this button to test the emrgency light to see if it is working properly. You can rest easy knowing that the system is working and will be provided light when there is a power failure. The unit provides a minimum of 90 minutes of backup emergency lighting, and is UL924 compliant. The rechargeable Nickel–Cadmium battery pack appears to consist of 4 D-Cell sized rechargeable Nickel–Cadmium batteries. The rechargeable Nickel–Cadmium battery pack is not easy to replace. It is held under a plastic cage that would require you to completely disassemble the unit in order to gain access to the battery pack when it needs to be replaced. It has push-in style electrical wire connectors that cannot be easily released, so make sure you have everything correct before making your final connections. The instructions say it comes with wire nuts, but they were not inside of the box I received. The ground wire does not have a push-in style wire connector, so you will either need to supply your own wire nut, or make all your ground wire connections to the grounding screw. It comes with a pair of wire leads clearly labeled for an external lamphead. Since I did not have any external lamp to connect I simply ignored these wire leads. Since I am using this emergency light in my home, I didn’t need to pass any emergency lighting or fire code inspections. I didn’t have an electrical box already installed in my house up high to permanently install the light on a wall, so I connected a 3 wire grounded electrical cord with a plug. This way I can easily move the light to any room I want, and simply plug it in to any wall outlet. Then when the power goes out, the unit will light up the room. In order to provide clearance for the test button which is located on the bottom, I did need to install 4 stick-on rubber feet to the bottom of the case (See Photo). Don’t throw away the red Battery Disconnect Button. You will need to should you want to turn the unit off for any reason. This is a UNV 120-277 (Universal Voltage) electrical fixture that will run on any standard voltage 120; 208; 240; up to 277 volts, 60Hz or 50 Hz.

Nowadays it is good to have an emergency light at home and for the commercial buildings it is a must. The Sure-Lites emergency light with the new LED technology is a great product, and it surely works when power fails. I have installed it in my house and tested it out after fully charging overnight. It worked for about 2 hours continuously. Since the light head is 360° adjustable, it can be aimed at anywhere you want. Since LEDs are long lasting, i may not replace the light for a very long time. It is a great product and it is well made.

Of all of the emergency lights I recently tried, this one was by far the best. The extra price is well worth it for the quality of the fixture. Starting out, the fixture comes with a metal housing instead of a plastic one. The lights were easy to aim where I needed them, and they hold their position well. As for the light output, it was vastly brighter than the others I had already installed. I'd say it could do a 60x60 room, although I had it in a space about 24x60 and it lit things up pretty nicely. Again, the battery lasted at least 90 minutes. Installation was very easy and wiring was straightforward. I will definitely buy these again.

I have a 1200 sq. ft. workshop which seems to be packed with 2000 sq. ft. of tools, materials and supplies! I try to keep my work area safe but with limited space, being caught in the dark all of a sudden can be dangerous. After deciding to install an emergency light and reviewing several, I am extremely glad I chose this one. It is a very well built unit with several mounting and wiring options making it a desirable unit for old or new construction, and the installation directions are very concise. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of light this unit produced. In a 30' x 40' workshop, the central area is very well lit and no place in the shop is in total darkness. I found out that 2 1.7 watt LEDs can light a fairly large area.

Storm and hurricane season is upon us again and we did not want to get caught without adequate lighting in the event of an emergency. This light is very well made and very bright. It throws off great deal of light for such a small unit and is perfect for our great room, and kitchen and dining rooms. It is also so light we can use it as a portable light when walking the hallways. We are very very happy with this light.
