Vinyl door has bottom lip. Does this sill pan work with lip on bottom as with a window? And should the bottom lip be attached by nails with 12’ slider

Asked by Ken July 12, 2020

Answer

The back lip and front lip to our sill pans are able to be trimmed down to smaller lip measurements. There are pre made semi circles on the end caps that you will use to attach sill pan to frame.

Will this work on a 70.5 by 80 patio slider? Jamb depth is the usual 4 9/16"

Answer

The measurement from the back of the frame on the interior side to your nailing flange or brick mold is the measurement you need to determine the correct size sill pan.

According to the SureSill website, “Sill Pan size should be equal or slightly larger (1/8” -1/4”) than the door/window frame size, when measured from the back of the frame on interior side, to the nailing flange or the brick mould.” So, it seems that it’s the door frame depth behind the nail fin that really matters, not so much if the house is 2x4 or 2x6 framing, right? Unfortunately, American Craftsman doesn’t readily provide this specification. And my measurements showed their door frame extends 3 ½” from the back of the nailing fin to the interior frame edge. If that’s correct, the 3 ¼” SureSill pan would prevent the nail fin on this door from sitting flush onto exterior sheathing by ¼”. An answer from SureSill and/or American Craftsman is needed before purchasing this product for use with this door.

what size Suresill sloped sill pan do I need for a 24"x36" window installed in 2x4 framing?

Answer

Sill Pan size should be equal or slightly larger (1/8” -1/4”) then the door/window frame size, when measured from the back of the frame on interior side) to the nailing flange or the brick mould. The jamb size will indicate which sill pan you would need. But the length of the sill pan will be 40"

My sliding door is 107 in wide. Are there extension kits

Answer

We have a pan that is 117" on homedepot.com. You can cut it down to the exact size you need. It will come with an extension coupling, since it's two separate pieces. It will be an 80" piece and 39" piece.
