AnswerWe do not recommend placing the TI-3 wall kit over the plastic walls you currently have. Because the plastic walls are not porous, the glue adhering the two wall kits together would not be able to dry completely which would interfere with the adhesion. We recommend removing the plastic walls before installing the TI-3.

AnswerThank you for your interest in Swan products. The TI-3-037 does not come predrilled. Holes and easily be drilled using a hole saw. The panels can be trimmed using either a 60-80 tooth carbide blade or a saber saw with a bi-metal blade (14 teeth per inch). Good luck with your project.

The surround is beautiful, and looks great when installed HOWEVER: I will clarify my "NO" on recommending this. it is BEAUTIFUL, but the incomplete/inadequate materials list in the instructions and the adhesive materials/concept is flawed. IF the manufacturer changes the linking design of the back and side walls so they actually fit properly, and the adhesive is changed it would be fine. It is difficult to fix things after the fact, frustrating, and expensive when you are paying a contractor to redo and revise the installation.
1) The directions are not adequate. The "list of materials" to do this job does not mention " REQUIRES bracing" and there is no mention of bracing materials in the materials list. The first mention of bracing is at the END of installation, where it tells you to brace for 24 hours to let the caulk cure.
2) this should be installed with ADHESIVE caulk, not standard caulking provided.
3) the sticky peel and press strip on the edges does not hold at all; push on it and it sticks, let go and it pops loose. Inferior product? Wrong product for the application? Not sure, but it is ineffective and worthless.
4) design where back installs against both sides: There is a lap in the back wall but not deep enough to handle the depth of the sidewalls, therefore the back does not fit flat against the bathroom wall when mounted against the side panels, leaving a gap at the top of the surround, and since the adhesive does not hold, continues to POP whenever you press against it.
5) since the caulking and the peel and stick do NOT hold we had to install a trim strip around 3 sides of the surround so it didn't come loose from the wall.
6) installed by a contractor, not a homeowner so this should have been a piece of cake and turned into major nightmare.
7) REAL downside of this? when you install some of the caulking sticks making it impossible to remove the pieces to use different adhesive as it TEARS the sheetrock. Therefore, you are stuck with what is on the wall and need to compensate with trim. And prayer.
Perhaps the installation of grab bars and the trim surround will prevent this from coming loose and crashing down on my head, however the surround has never completely adhered to the wall and it has been 3 weeks since install. NEED NEW DESIGN

Has held up fantastically!
I had this installed 5 years ago, and I am still pleased. This requires virtually no maintenance, I clean it occasionally only out of a sense of duty, I believe I could go without ever cleaning it and it would be just fine. The shelves need wiping down sometimes but the walls seem to just repel dirt. I originally purchased it for looks alone, had I known then that the name Swan usually means lower quality, I probably would have chosen another brand, I am glad I didn't.

Instead a sheet of paper with a website, but when I went there there were NO “latest up-to-date” installation instructions to be had. It’s installed, but NOT the way it SHOULD have been. DON’T MAKE IT DIFFICULT!! For over $500 you can include a one-sheet install guide!..

I’m so sorry but this product should not even be...
I’m so sorry but this product should not even be listed on your website. It’s defective and ineffective all at the same time. Plus it’s ugly in true life lol! Save you and your contractor time by not even looking at this. It does not attach to anything. Thankful Home Depot let me return this. We lost a day though in labor and luckily my contractor was able to come up with a much better wall kit. Again, don’t buy this! You’ll be very sorry. Just being real since you asked me for a review.
