    Answer This Question

A:  Yes, we have used little tikes swings on the swing we built with these hangers. They easily hook through with no safety issues.

A:  They are design to be used with a 4x6 beam. Actual thickness is 5.5"

Q:I want to put a swing in the basement for the kids to use during the winter. Can I use these hangers on a basement beam

A:  This can mount to a wooden swing beam.

        by|May 4, 2023

A:  No. Unless you have access to the top of the beam. A nut device needs to be hammered into place for the actual hook to screw into.

          A:  Max use is 4x6

          by|Jul 23, 2019

A:  Possibly. Their is a six inch rod that is supposed to go thru a 4 X 6 and has a washer and nut that attaches on the top side. If you can't get to the top side, it would not work safely.

Q:Is the straight and thread part longer than 8" basically?

            Answer This Question

A:  Possibly. There is a six inch rod that goes thru a 4X6 and attaches with a washer and nut. To attach to a 4X8, you would have to counter sink the top 2 inches in order to attach it properly.

              by|Jul 23, 2019

A:  No. I don’t think the hanger bolt is long enough.

              by|Sep 18, 2019

A:  Swing Hanger regular duty is 5.5" long on the straight part.

                For a 4" x 6" Beam
These come in pairs, enough hardware to mount 1 swing. Some packages may not have directions. On a 4" by 6" beam they mount on the 6" part of the beam. Start by drilling a 1" diameter hole about 5/8" deep in the top of the beam (with a spade bit) to countersink the top washer and lock nut. Then continue to drill a 5/16" hole through to the bottom of the beam. When I used some older Swing-n-Slide hardware from a swing set (they were 6" long), I had to drill a 5/16" hole in the metal top plate for the swing hanger bolt to protrude. Really had no issue installing 4 sets of these, although I purchased a 12" long 5/16" bit to make the job of drilling through a 6" beam easier. For use with the standard swings, rated at 115 lbs.

We've looked for these for months. Left them in the cart when not available. We were notified that they had come available so we ordered. They were very heavy duty and so easy to install. We are very pkeased.

                    keeps working
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter loves to swing, and has worn out the hangers twice. It's easy to order new hangers, they arrive within three days, and they are very easy to install/replace.

                      Not Sturdy
These lasted about a year with our three kiddos age 4-9 then they slowly started breaking while the kids where swinging on them. They wear down easily and after the first couple broke we immediately bought a different brand/design. These were not made to last.

They claim to work with a 6" deep member, and they do, just barely. I saw another review that talked about drilling a countersink to install these. I'm so thankful I saw that. I'm pretty sure that's the only way to install these things. The shafts are just barely long enough to reach the nuts. Lining them up is nearly impossible. Using a countersink gives the nuts enough play that you can get the threads started in the nuts. It's a pretty tedious procedure, but it does work. That's a good thing because I haven't anything else that even remotely comes close to working.

These are great, but the bolts were not made to be adaptable for other applications. I wanted to mount these on a 4 x 4 cross bar. problem is the bolts are too long for a 4 x 4. and since they are not threaded all the way up, you can't simply tighten the nut down further.

so i got this for small swing for my girls, pictures are misleading on what it really is. this hooks can only be mounted thru THICK wood. No you cant screw it in to ceiling or into wood as it seems in pictures. the bolt thats not shown in anything is almost 6 inches or longer useless for my project.
