Hello, Yes I believe it is pine. We love it. We had to make it a bit smaller but the way it was designed we easily made the length a bit shorter. We also flipped over one of the panels to get the small door on the ground. This "Catio" thats what we call it, is very nice for the cats.

This is a cheap pine and very flimsy. Personally, I would research another type cage. It will do the job but not worth the money.

Yes, it is. That's exactly what we use the enclosure for. We carry our two indoor cats in and out to their pen, and they love it.

Yes, just make sure you don’t have a escape cat that can find a way to get out. The hardware that comes with is not real secure once it’s screwed in place. The screws come loose. I had to use tooth picks in the holes then screw the hardware back on after time.

Absolutely...our indoor kitty has been enjoying his outdoor run for over a year now in complete safety. The only thing that it doesn't have is a solid roof to protect from the rain but we solved that problem by putting up a collapsible gazebo over it so it can be used in any weather. I highly recommend this cat run!!

How sturdy is this? We have bobcats in our area so I am wondering if it can withstand a potential predator.

not sturdy enough for that. you would have to build a supplemental frame like i did and build a decking platform.

The wood structure and frame are sturdy units. The screen is made of 22 gauge wire.

I have 5 indoor only cats, (go ahead call me a crazy cat lady). I like having my house smelling clean but that is a 24hr job when you have 5 pooping cats and 2 human boys living in your house. I figured this outdoor run would be perfect to keep the litter boxes out and my house smelling clean. (I'll figure out another solution for the human boys later.) Going in I knew I was going to need to make at least one modification. I needed to switch the top front entrance panel with the lower back panel in order to line it up to a doggy door that leads into the house. Seemed simple enough until I realized that the wired panels have pegs. Which by the way the instruction aren't clear on what panel connects with what panel. Ignoring that minor peg issue until I came to it I started building the enclosed housing. This is when I learned that the structure wasn't very sturdy and panels didn't line up right. I was constantly afraid of it breaking on me. This is also where I got most of the splinters in my hands because the edges weren't cut clean and little pieces of the wood were broken off. Awesome, right? I ignored and continued with the construction. Then I got to the bottom shelf and saw that the part on the panel where it holds up the shelf was broken off. The holes were damaged so there was no screwing it back in. Being the problem solver I am, I figured new holes and wood glue would be my solution here. I was getting a little frustrated with it but I continued to the next step. But when it came to attaching the ramp it alone had 2 major problems. First, was the two huge cracked dents on the bottom side of the ramp which made me pretty upset. The other was the fact that the brackets that screw onto the ledge were crooked. I had to hammer them straight for them to lay flat on the ledge but whatever I'm stubborn so I continued. It finally came time to work on my modifications and to solve my peg problem. I decided to bust out my handy dandy jigsaw to cut some of the pegs off. I also drilled new holes for some of the other pegs. Let me just say that connecting and screwing the panels together was probably my biggest frustration. They were uneven and many didn't lay flat with one another. So when drilling them together there was a lot of cracking whines from the poor fragile wood. The screws where constantly getting to a mid-way point in the wood where it would just stop and it wouldn't allow the screw to go any further into the wood. That of course lead to gaps between some panels. I don't know about you but that's kind of an issue for me. I still managed to fit everything tightly together (or as close as they would go.) So 5 hours, 1 annoyed neighbor, 2 broken nails, 6 splinters, a dozen "ouches", a hundred excited meows and thousands of tiny white styrofoam balls later, I was finally done building the Trixie Wooden Outdoor Cat Run. Many of you might think it was my modifications that lead to this unfortunate review but I can confidently say that wasn't the case here. You may also want to ask, "was it worth it?" but I'll let you decided that on your own.

We received the Trixie Outdoor Cat Run from Home Depot yesterday (via FedEx) and carefully took all of the pieces out of the (2) boxes. First thing I noticed was that there were four little wood dowels in the bottom of the boxes (two were busted and broken) causing me to wonder what else was wrong. Upon bringing out the pieces, one at a time (and very carefully, I might add), I noticed that an upper side panel was broken (Part 1)... not due to shipping... but because a screw that was used to put the side panel together splintered the frame on the panel so that the panel lost its integrity (photos enclosed). My husband had to buy some wood glue to put this back together and we can only hope that the repair holds up. When we were trying to sort out the pieces, we found problems with the plastic pieces that were to join up the upper side panels to the lower side panels (Partss 5/6/7/8). Two of the panels were not lined up to the adjoining sides so we had to re-position the plastic pieces in order for the screws to be positioned. Also, the plastic pieces were screwed in so tight that they were not able to be used as they were meant to be because the plastic piece would not slide into the adjoining plastic piece. It's been a nightmare. The step (Part 13) was not marked properly to adhere to the ramp (Part 15). There were marks on it but not in the correct side of the step. By now, most people would probably be throwing the pieces back in the boxes demanding a refund. It's a good thing that I am more patient and willing to begin assembling using my common sense. There are many pieces that have pegs where they should only have a hole for a peg. Some pieces have holes for pegs where there should be pegs. Some holes for screws do not line up and many screws have to be put where there is no marking at all (except for the picture directions). The instructions are lousy and do not illustrate very well how things are to be assembled. We have been through one day of assembling and will continue again tomorrow. It's advertised that you can put this together in thirty minutes. Who are you kidding?? It also seems pretty flimsy, much like putting together a model airplane. I would like to hear back from you about this as we are not happy with the product. It has already taken up so much of our time. I will be adding to this review if we come up with any more problems tomorrow. Thank you.

The house is very nice, but the directions are not always clear. While there is an over all guide, the pictures are difficult to interpret. The individual pieces all look identical and are not at all marked. While I was able to put it together, it was more difficult than I expected and hoped for.
