I wanted to try out this come along in my wood shop. A lot of times when setting up new tools I'm by myself and this tool will definitely help lift some of the heavier machines. It comes with a single pulley which allows you to setup a 2 to 1 mechanical advantage. When using the 2 to 1 you double the lifting capacity but also cut the length of pull by 50%. The hook on the top of the tool swivels which makes operation easier. When using the 2 to 1 you just connect the hook on the end of the cable to the clasp on the bottom of the come along and then use the hook on the pulley to connect to the object you are trying to pull or lift. This tool can be used in the vertical or horizontal position.

I've never had one of these before and am kicking myself for not doing so already. This come-along works great once you figure out how to use it. The instructions aren't that great but that's the only negative. It's really sturdy, seems to be made of high quality materials, and the fit and finish is good. So far I've only used mine to straighten out a couple wooden posts I have but it worked flawlessly and effortlessly. Before I would wither use a ratcheting strap or another method entirely. Not anymore.

This a bit of overkill for my needs but I found the price reasonable for the comparative duty of lesser models. This hoist seems very well made and has ample cable for my needs (enough for a 20’ reach). The release and ratchet levers are easy to use and intuitive enough for those who have never used a hoist like this. It was nice to find one rated at 2 tons for the price!

For low-budget auto racing (Autocross) this come-along is just the ticket to getting your car back onto the trailer when you can't drive it on under its own power. (Transmission problems in my case.) For that use you will need some sort of extension to the come-along cable, because it won't reach all the way from the anchor point (truck ball hitch) to the car. This particular model can be used as either a 1-ton or 2-ton puller. This is possible because there are two hooks on the cable. One is at the end of the cable. The other is on a pulley that can slide along the cable. Using only the hook at the end of the cable, this come-along is rated at one ton. It has about a 20-foot maximum reach used that way. You can double the pulling force by latching the end hook back to the puller frame and attaching the pulley hook to the object you want to move. By doing that you cut the reach in half, down to about 10 feet. The challenge in using pullers of this type is usually difficulty of finding a solid, stable anchor point. If you have a good anchor point, you can move a pretty big object.

This cable puller is heavy duty. It's great for fencing, particularly barbed wire fencing. It's a little too heavy duty for light chain link, but we were very careful with that. It requires more strength to hold and not much to ratchet it because it is heavy. attaching it to fence posts helps with that. We even used it to unload a 750-lb. bale of hay as well.

TUF-TUG Medium Frame, Single or Double Line, 4,000 lbs. Come Along Cable Puller. Thank goodness I haven’t actually had to use it yet but this I know will definitely get the job done should I ever need to use it and was caught in a situation that I need a come along for. This is a heavy duty piece of equipment and should easily get the job done. I would recommend if you are looking for a midsize come along.

We think the Tuf-Tug 4,000-lb Come Along is the size most people could use for vehicle use. Husband's 4x4 truck has a curb weight a tick under 4,000 pounds. We've been hung up in snow drifts before and discovered (after the work required to get un-stuck!) we'd invest in either a winch system or Come Along. For versatility we chose the Come Along. Not much snow here right now, but there's lots of years work: we had a section of fencing which had started leaning due to freeze-thaw. The idea of digging up 4x4 posts set deep in concrete didn't appeal, so we decided to try the Come Along to straighten them up and backfill. It worked better than anticipated! Just to be sure, we did hook up the Come Along to truck tow hooks. Easy and great fit! This is a well-made versatile product and sure makes those heavy-duty pull tasks easier!

Well constructed and very robust cable pullers and made here in the USA~! What I did find a bit confusing though was the instructions on the hang tag. 1. It speaks to the cautions relative to nylon webbing and its care and restrictions. 2. Instructions for use on the back page. 3. To apply tension it talks about a "black plastic covered spring" and there is no black plastic cover. 4. To release tension, again there is no plastic cover. 5. Please use a larger hangtag that is accurate for the product, and increase the font size as well. Warranty... 90 days? I would think this product being so well constructed it should have at least a one year warranty. I doubt I would use it more that a few times a year anyway. Commercial usage could exempt or reduce the warranty period.

Over the last few years I've snatched up several downed tree sections and/or logs left for bulk trash pickup to convert into usable lumber. I've come across several larger sections that are just a little much to get into my trailer so I've had to leave them behind. This is the perfect solution to drag those fella's up a ramp or just muscle them up and in. The action is smooth, the handle provides good leverage, and on a single line pull I've got just enough reach for my 4x8 trailer. Pretty cool this is also setup for double line pulls, effectively doubling your pull capacity. There have been one or two instances where a full extension of the handle seems to disengage the locking mechanism while there is no load - I haven't quite figured out if it's me or the tool, but overall I'm very pleased thus far.

If you need to move heavy items or pull stumps or even get your truck out of the mud bog this 4,000 pound come-along would be a good thing to have in your tool collection. I find that once you own one of these you will find many uses for it. This Tuf Tug come-along is well made and includes simple instructions. My brother is an auto mechanic and we have already used it to move a car into his shop. You can extend the 12 foot reach with another cable just make sure that the cable is at least as strong as the one on the come-along.
