Product Overview

Premium Back Draft Damper is installed into ductwork to prevent unwanted outdoor drafts from entering into your bathroom fan, kitchen fan, clothes dryer, etc. Ultimate one way air flow valve allows air to flow out but not back in. It does not rust or require any maintenance. Non-mechanical in-line one way air flow valve that requires minimal pressure to operate, has no moving parts. Sized slightly less than the internal diameter of the duct to slip easily into duct. Rubber gasket provide a friction fit and air-tight seal. Eliminates cold air back drafts in the winter saving heating loss. Eliminates hot air back drafts in the summer saving air conditioning loss. The damper consists of a specially formulated fabric sleeve attached to an outer metal sleeve. The fabric sleeve will allow air to pass through unrestricted in the desired direction of flow without reducing system efficiency. It is silent, produces no metal clanging sounds, tested to UL723 standards and can be installed in solid or flexible ductwork in any orientation. Installs easily - simply slide into duct. Specifically designed to stop back drafts from your clothes dryer, bathroom exhaust fan, kitchen fan, pellet stove, direct vent water heater and direct vent furnace. Available in 4 in., 5 in., 6 in., 7 in. and 8 in. sizes.

Buyer Beware
What is pictured is NOT what you receive. The insert pictured in the description looks like cloth that should self collapse easily; what arrives is more of a stiff, plastic-coated fabric. As you can see from the attached picture it stands straight up and will not collapse onto itself, thus making it useless. I have already returned it.

I bought this to replace one that had been in service for 12 years. The fabric had gotten little stiff and didn't close well. Since then they have improved the design allowing it to close even better. It's best to use this damper in a horizontal position with the seam at the top.

I was interested in this item to stop kitchen odors from my neighbor coming into my Apt. It just doesn't do the job. We tested it for a week and then removed it and tried something different. The concept makes sense but I think it requires a higher velocity of a draft in order to work.

Works exactly as advertised, excellent product. One point: virtually all air ducts have a slight ridge that runs lengthwise along the inside of the duct where the duct's metal edges are joined to form the tube. It may take a bit of hand manipulation to get the damper into the duct past this ridge, but it's readily accomplished. I had mine in in about 30 seconds.

Absolutely useless! As others have written, the product received is not even what is pictured!!! The cape material is stiff and lightweight and basically remains stuck to the walls of the duct. It DOES NOT drape down like show and with the type of material used I can not see it EVER blocking any backdraft. My guess is they decided to go to a cheaper material than shown and that makes the product worthless. It won't stop ANY air from back drafting.

      Dumb Damper
This damper didn't do what it was supposed to do. Don't waste time and money. Buy a spring loaded butterfly damper instead.

        Works as intended. But...
It works more than well. I have absolutely no backdraft, even on a bathroom fan that used to whistle. Utterly quiet. The quality is good, a little lighter than you'd expect, but if it works this well, you really aren't going to care once it's in place. There were a rough edges and a very, very sharp bur on the seam, but sheet aluminum always manages to cut me anyway. The biggest problem is that this insert will NOT fix inside flexible ducting at all and it CANNOT be slide into assembled rigid ducting if there is any type of crimp or flange. Buy the ducting as flats, cut it to length, then assemble the duct into round around the damper. And watch out where you place the damper, it's not easy to change it's position once the ducting is locked into a tube nor to unclip the seam on the duct back into a flat with the insert pressing on in. This is not the easy way to use this damper, it is the only practical way to use it. I'm sure the claims by the company that this item can be installed differently are technically true, but in practice, squeezed into the low part of a attic...no, no it isn't possible.
