Will this bit drill into fieldstone?

Yes, Tapcon Carbide Drill Bits will drill through most stone without issue. Really the only stone I have come across that I had trouble with was Flint. I had to drill some mounting holes in Concrete that had Flint as the aggregate. The bit was good for 1 2" hole and burned. If you can keep the tip cool when drilling really hard material you will do much better. The bit will tend to overheat and then it will throw the carbide tip. Then you just throw it away.

Will the cut hardened steel

These are not metal cutting bits. You would waist your time and money using these on metal.

Hit or Miss
Disappointing performance. Some bits work, while others do not. Drilling into a single concrete slab the first bit I used in my hammer drill did not make an impact. I tried another bit in the package and it worked very well and I was able to drill another three holes without an issue. When it became dull, I changed to a new bit and again the new bit did not work. It seemed as if some bits were sharpened, while others were not.
