About This Product

Techniseal EZ Sand is a trusted and proven mix of graded sand and binder that flows smoothly down joints for a fast and effective installation of pavers or slabs on surfaces exposed to normal traffic. Easy to work with, this jointing sand starts to set only a few-minutes after activation and quickly becomes resistant to water erosion (rain, splashes, sprinklers, etc.). It is a budget-friendly alternative to higher performance sand, for installations carried out in lighter-duty environments.

Questions & Answers

What is the process of applying water after pavers and polymeric sand is put down?
ByAug 4, 2026

Answer This Question

Hello, as instructed on the bag and the technical data sheet, you have to use a garden hose, on shower setting. Working in sections of no more than 200 sq.ft. at a time, you shower the section for 30 seconds, you pause for 30 seconds, and then you water again for another 30 seconds. You can then move to the next section. If you have any other question on the product and how to work with it, feel free to contact our team of technical advisors at 1-800-465-7325. Regards.

Can we use to add more between cracks that has washed away?

    Answer This Question

Hello. In order to redo some areas, you will have to remove the sand from the joint and get a minimum depth of 1 1/2" . Simply adding new sand over existing joint will result in this new section to break away from the rest, and you will be in the same situation again. Regards.

                Answer This Question

Hello. For comaction, we recommend mechanical compaction, either with a vibrating plate or roller compactor. In areas where mechanical compaction is not possible, manual compaction is required. If you other questions regarding compaction, feel free to contact our team of technical advisors at 1-800-465-7325. Regards.

Brush into cracks and then wet to harden?

                    Answer This Question

Hello. There is a little more to it than just sweeping it in and watering. One crucial step is the compaction. without it, it will not stop weeds and ants from coming through, and the joints will not be as effective. After you first sweep the sand in the joint, you need to do mechanical compaction. Then add more sand, and compact again. Afterwards, the use of a leafblower is recommended to remove leftovers on the surface and ensuring you have a gap of 1/8" between the top of the joint and the surface of the pavers. Then you can activate it with water. On the shower mode, water for 30 seconds, pause for 30 seconds, and water for another 30 seconds. Do not worry, all these instructions are on the back of the bag for your conviniency! Have a great day!

I found the product very easy to use, and very effective at falling into the gaps. I was able to sweep-clean with a broom, and then blew it off with my leaf blower. I held the blower at a very oblique angle to blow across the surface and leave the grout in the joints. Once I wet it, then repeated the second light spray, it dried overnight and did not leave a huge film. There is a very slight film, but you can still see the color of the pavers through the grout film. It has locked the Pavers together and should be great in keeping the weeds down.

Is it a usable full bag? No. A lot gets wasted bc its clumps. A good portion was thrown out bc it was basically rocks. Pricey for what you get. It works so that's the plus but you dont get your money's worth

Home Depot should discontinue selling this "useless product".
I bought 10 bags for 900 sq. ft. of cement pavers I installed. I purchased and used a new Shower nozzle as per the instructions. I made 3 different attempts with little to no success. This included a call to the 1-800 number listed on the bag after the first failed attempt. Each time after allowing 48-72 hours to dry, I was able to blow out 90% of the sand. It was like there was not adhesive in the bag. The product did not adhere to the pavers. i went to the local paver company and purchased "POLYSWEEP". A little more money but it worked GREAT. I will using this product from now on.

                        Pretty good quality, but expensive
I do like the color and performance. Most of my pavers were compacted perfectly, but not all of them were. Installation was super easy and very low dust. However, I will not be purchasing again due to price and will be trying other cheaper options because the results were not 100% ideal. More like 90% ideal.

We used to purchase Permasand in buckets. Now this is our option in bags and not cheaper. Works fine but I wish they could keep the colors consistent.

ABSOLUTELY POOR QUALITY - WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
ABSOLUTELY POOR QUALITY - WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!! No Adhesion, erosion on first rain. We paid over $1K to have a massive paverstone driveway and walkway thoroughly cleaned and all the gaps blown out clean. It took them a full day to do the work to remove the old polymeric sand and dirt that had accumulated from previous owner. We let it dry out for days. We watched the videos, read all the instructions, and double checked everything. The bought 16 bags at Home Depot. It took four of us working an entire day to do this many square feet. and when we were finished, and it dried, it looked great! Then after the first heavy rain, we were cleaning up piles of sand that washed out of the cracks. two months later and we still get sand accumulations in low areas after it rains. We have scooped up a wheelbarrow full so far. 50% of it is gone, the rest seems to be holding. We are already getting weeds popping up in places it didnt hold, and ants have already managed to push up through. It did stain the stones in areas randomly. even though we swept and user a blower to clean them before wetting. Keep in mind, I am a professional engineering project manager, that oversees the design and build of massive plant sites, in which we deal with high strength concrete, grout, etc. I understand the processes and how this is to be done. This is 100% material failure. I would backcharge my supplier for faulty material, if this was on one of my jobsites. So I spent $640 for basically bags of sand. Not impressed in the least. 50% failure rate is too much to ignore. I will provide pictures.

                            Would never setup
Bought 3 bags for a large area. I was redoing an existing patio after power washing. Waited several days for everything to dry. Followed directions exactly. The sand never setup. What was in the between the pavers simply would not setup after being misted as instructed. It also caused the patio that had just cleaned to become clouded over. I would not recommend this product!

                              Terrible
I've been using this brand for several years as it's the only one available. But as others have mentioned, a heavy rain washes this out in the matter of weeks, I have joints that have washed away in dark moldy spots. I guess it never occurred to me that this is just a bad product until I read the reviews just now that are saying the same thing. I will be switching to another brand immediately. I just did a project two weeks ago. And spent hours redoing all the paver sand only for a thunderstorm that completely ruined it. A few days later, after it had plenty of sunshine to set.
