TechnoFloor Acoustic 100 sq. ft. 48 in. x 25 ft. x 0.13 in. Recycled Rubber Underlayment was fairly simple to install. Apply the product to a clean floor with thin-set applied first, trim edges within 1/4 inch the wall. I then inserted the concrete floorboards before applying thin-set for tile application. Once completed the up stairs floor was silenced quite a bit from the original carpet that was installed.

This floor underlayment was exactly what I was looking for! I love how it is made out of recycled rubber, most of them that I have found are made out of foam. The underlayment seems to standup well to walking on it without the flooring as well, which other that I have used rips up easily when you walk across it trying to install the floor. Very easy to roll out and cut with a box knife to the correct lengths. The 48" wide was perfect for my room as I did 3 rows of it and it covered the whole 12 foot wide width. It is black on one side and kind of a grayish color on the other side which is printed this side up. After installing the floor and walking on it I am super impressed with how quiet the laminate floor is, I have another room I installed laminate floor in with a foam underlayment and it isn't near as "cushy" and quiet as the room that I installed this underlayment in.

Sound Deadening Underlayment
I was apprehensive about ordering this on line. The pic used on Home Depots website, shows it curling up, and makes it look thicker than it is. I thought it might be hard to install, have too much give for a floating floor, and too thick for radiant heating. The Q&A did not help, because it had conflicting answers. The packaging answers most of the Q&A (see pic). It can be used with all flooring, is 100 square feet, and is .08" thick (see pic). I wanted an underlayment for a floating floor, not to reduce noise below, since below is a basement, but to dampen the hollow sound floating floor can make in the room. This worked great. Easy to cut and lay. Perfect thickness; no spongy feeling, no worry of the floor cracking over time. One side is rubber (which you face down, to adhere to subfloor), and the other is a shiny slippery surface (which you face up, to allow the flooring to expand and contract) It does have a noticeable odor when you first open the packaging, but seems to have dissipated.

Durable underlayment
This is a good, firm, noise dampening underlayment for any floating floor. It is made of solid rubber particles that will not compress while weight bearing, which make it better than foam underlayment products. It cuts simply with a utility knife, and after layed down, will not slip around due to the rubber sticking to the floor. The top layer has a film which allows floating floors to move freely on top of the underlayment. Being mildew proof makes it a great product for bathroom and kitchen floors.

Techno Floor Acoustic by Technoflex
This underlayment is good for helping to reduce noise by providing a rubber cushion that will absorb the sounds that are made by walking on wood floors, as well as laminate, engineered wood and even carpet. One side of this underlayment acts as a vapor barrier, and it is resistant to mold, fungus, and is water damage proof. This underlayment is made from 100% recycled materials and is crush, tear and aging resistant. This comes in a 25 by 4 foot wide roll, covering 100 square feet. This product is to be used for floating floor installations only.

This product is really easy (even kind of fun) to install. I have no idea if it is actually reducing sound transmission between our bedrooms and the rental unit below us (the intended purpose). We installed the technoflex underneath of carpet padding and carpet, to increase the density and reduce ambient and impact noise. I think it might have improved things, but hard to say without a simple way to measure sound.

This product performed exactly as expected and, with only one minor exception, as indicated in the product description. The photo shows the product logo on the grey side, but the product received had no printing on it. There was a period of uncertainty, without the photo above, as to which side should be installed “up” as almost all other flooring products include. But once installed, even before the hardwood floor laid on top, the room was noticeably quieter. And cutting at the walls and around corners was a breeze with simple scisors, yet durable enough to lay flat and hold up until flooring is installed.
