A:  Yes, only one I've seen that does. CH Hanson invented this a long time ago. Surprisingly... It's the real deal !

A:  Yes it does, think of a oval shaped sharpener. Thanks

A:  Everything causes cancer to the State of California, hence the warning. It is safe unless you eat the whole package or stick yourself in the eye.

A:  Look at where we live ! Take a breathe of "fresh" air. Lol Cancer risk ! Sleep on your $4000 mattress, made with chemicals that can alter your DNA, if father a child. A pencil is the least of your worries !

A:  The chemical in question is likely in either the paint or the wood treatment. So don't eat it.

A:  The only reason it has that warning is because the politicians in California have decided that yet another everyday product is somehow dangerous to your health (see below). I personally wouldn't worry about this at all. "This product can expose you to chemicals including DEHP [Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate], which is known to the State of California to cause cancer. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov; To mitigate your risk of exposure to DEHP, you should consider wearing work gloves when you use tools."

Because of the flat shape of the pencil, when you sharpen one the wood on two sides of the pencil never clears the point of the lead. So on two sides of the point the wood extends right up to the point. Once you write with it the lead wears down past the wood and it wont wright anymore. Poor design or a bad sharpener?

                terrible, useless product
Bought these awhile back as I use them for everything. The first one kept breaking the lead off so, when it got short, I cut it open. The lead was barely glued to the wood and the wood was weak. I kept thinking it was that pencil, bit after 5 the same way, I bought some Irwin brand carpenters pencils. These are great... as good as my Grandpa and my Dad used. Don't waste your money on this HD product!

Like the carpenter's pencil. What makes it easier is the sharpener. Sturdier then a standard #2 pencil.
