Q:My Kohler bathroom sink faucet (HD purchase) directions recommend 1/2" - 14 NPSM but mention nothing about compression size. Which supply line do I need? Also don't see any 14 inch lines listed.

A:  The 1/2 inch IPS end here is correct for your 1/2 - 14 NPSM. 1/2" - 14 means 1/2" trade size with 14 threads per inch. The other end of the supply line needs to match the size of the connection on your water shutoff valve.

Braided stainless lines will never burst, and the length is fantastic for my outside work sink—we don’t bolt it down so we can move it to get to the soft drain tube easier when leaves and my kids’ toys get down into it. 48” lines are fantastic—pull the sink out, clean out the drain and get things working again, then shove it back against the wall. Perfect, and only possible because of nice, generously-sized lines. No leaks, nice crimps on the ends, and they even look nice. The Plumber’s Choice is my choice.

The Everflow braided stainless steel water supply line is a flexible, burst proof line used primarily to connect a faucet to your water supply valve. The line is 16 inches long which gives you a good working length to make the connection. I use 16 inch as my standard – not too short – not too long, but of course make sure the length you buy suits your needs. It has a standard ½ IPS on one end to connect to your faucet and a 3/8 compression on the other to connect to the water supply line value. No washers or gaskets are required to make the connections. I find it easier to install the faucet end first, and then make the connection to the supply valve. I have used this brand for years and they offer worry free, leak free, service. I find these flexible lines much easier to work with and install than copper lines. Use a pair for hot and cold supply.

So what can I say... they do the job very well. If you have installed several braided lines, you know they are not all the same. Some are stiff and you know they will crack. Some are to thin and will not hold up. These have some heft to them. The metal ends take a wrench very well and hold. No rounding over of even the small end. That, as you know, can be very annoying and leads to using Vise Grips later on. I like the metal ends to stay with sharp strong corners. This washers in the ends seem to have a good thickness. When tightening up you can feel them hit and then you give another quarter turn and your are good to go. The 24" length was what I need to retrofit in an old bathroom where the plumber set the shutoffs very low. Great product from Plumber's Choice and Home Depot.

Good quality supply hose that I used under the toilet in my very small powder room. The hose is of excellent construction, extremely easy to install and quite flexible. Recently replaced the innards of the tank and this hose helped me to complete the job. Installation from start to finish took about 20 minutes including draining the tank, so far no leaks. Highly recommend

1/2 in IPS and 3/8 in compression fittings are both equipped with rubber washers and easily connect to 3/8 in valve fittings. These sizes are quite standard for bathroom faucets, but I needed this set up for hooking up a recirculating valve under my kitchen sink. In this case, I needed 30 in length braided hoses due to under the sink obstacles that I needed to maneuver around and enough length to create non-kinking bends. Works well with Grundfos valve.

Picking up a two pack of braided faucet supply connectors is a must for any new faucet install. Many old faucets (1960s, 1970s and even in the 1980s) are solid piped which can be a pain to deal with unless you have the right skills and tools. The 1/2 in IPS and 3/8 in compression fittings are both equipped with rubber washers and easily connect to 3/8 in valve fittings. 20 in length is ideal for bathroom faucets. Braided hoses can be easily looped if too long to create a nice clean look and strong water flow.

Stainless steel water supply line connector is braided and flexible. This will connect to faucets or toilets. It has 1/2" IPS with 3/8" universal compression fitting. It is 8" long so it works if the water supply line and faucet connector are close together. To install, you simply hand tighten plus a quarter turn. They recommend replacing water supply lines every ten years.

The Plumbers Choice Faucet Connector is great for connecting water lines to any sink. I chose the half inch IPS by three eighths inch universal fit when I installed a new faucet; thought it should have new connections, also. These are braided so they should never burst! These are rated to 140º F (60º C) which is 20 degrees F (13 C) higher than any home water heater should be set. They are packaged in two packs and include a one year warranty. Easy hook up and no leaks!
