Modifications where required to mount the bench. Pictures do not show that the brackets which mount the bench to the pier/dock are L-shaped. I drilled an addition hole in the horizontal part of the bracket. This allow mounting then on the flat wooden boards of the dock.

I Don't have much dock space and this bench was my best option. Actually this is my second bench, they are fairly easy to assemble and can sit two comfortably. The wooden parts are rough around the edges and should be sanded. I finished mine with a good quality exterior paint and so far they're holding up well...Recommended.

Be very careful if you buy this bench. When I got mine, the arm rests, the plastic plugs, and the entire hardware packet were missing. I called Tommy Docks and they said they had had quality control issues and would send the missing pieces right away. Four days later I got the arm rest boards and the hardware, but no end plugs. Put it together. The instructions don't match the parts they sent: Different hole patterns, different lengths of screws, etc. I've been doing woodworking and building for 69 years, so I figured it out, Two of the boards were a bit split, but I put them on the back where they don't bear so much weight. The plugs are kind of important because they cover up the sharp ends on the metal parts of the frame. I guess I'll make some out of wood. Probably look better anyway. Install the bench on the dock. No can do! The frame of the bench is wide and deep enough that it can't fit between the supports that hold up the dock. Only way to install it is on the side of the dock where there's an 8-foot section. Who wants to look at the neighbors? I'd rather look out at the water. Guess I'll go back to Home Depot (it wasn't their fault), buy some cedar, and make my own bench. Check carefully before you buy. Good luck.

Bought (12) decking sections and bench this summer. Over all pleased with Tommy Dock products. One of the boards on the bench was almost cracked through. Not wanting to go thru the hassle of returning it- I seeped in thin CA glue and it has held so far.

Parts in box did not fit item. I was able to make most work. I wrote (emailed) company and they supplied the missing parts (2 large caps were missing - 2 small caps in parts bag) in a very short period of time. I was impressed with customer service. Good value - much better value than other dock benches I've looked a lot!
