Product Overview

The Tornado 30 lb. Steel Ladder Hook supports up to 30 lbs. The hook projects 7-3/8 in. and is constructed of durable steel. Use it in drywall or wall studs (wall studs preferred). Weight limit is 15 lbs. in drywall and 30 lbs. in wall studs. The included anchors use self-drill technology in drywall. For studs, pre-drill a pilot hole first for the anchors. Do not over tighten. Use 2 hooks for extension ladders. Using extra hooks does not multiply weight limit. Multi-use hook is good for storing many types of tools or other items.

need hook or bracket to hang outdoor garden hose on side or house.

this would work for holding the hose, but I'd strongly recommend replacing or augmenting the screws that come with . They're not really good for anything other than drywall (gypsum board).

I will use tapcon screws for brick. what size diameter tapcon should I get for using the smaller holes as recommended?

We recommend use of a threaded rod and a suitable epoxy to ensure a secure hold versus a Tapcon screw. This will provide additional strength for loading and unloading the ladder.

Two of screw heads stripped going into a stud. How can I get more screws?

I have used wood screws with good success.

Are they waterproof and chemical resistant?

I believe it to be made of mild steel since I purposely bent the prongs wider to help hold a vacuum hose. Though it is coated, I would expect it to rust and corrode over time in a harsh environment. But heck, it is only $10.00. and easily replaced.

Are the screws provided only for drywall? Where are the screws for the studs?

Thew screws are a combination style. while they have the wide flanges for drywall,k the end is narrowed down for wood. I would definitely drill a pilot hole for stud installation.

I've bought maybe six to eight of these, different sizes. This last set I bought pairs so I could hang a couple of extension ladders horizontally. This is just about a perfect fit for the edge size of the ladders. In the past, I didn't use the screws that came with them because they just looked weird. They seemed maybe designed more for drywall. Since I was screwing into studs, I'd just use wood screws. This time I decided to give the screws a try. I drilled the 1/4" pilot hole per the instructions. First ladder went fine. The second set, though, one of the screws met some resistance and driving it in, the screw head snapped off. Mind you, this was with a pilot hole drilled. For this, I knocked off one star on the rating. I tried backing out the embedded screw with a screw remover, but couldn't get any bit into the stump left. So, offset the bracket and screw in again with a regular wood screw. The package says not to over tighten, but I figured this was to avoid stripping in drywall, not just driving it in. So, be careful if you use the screws that come with it.

Hooks are strong, easy to hang, though I’d recommend using a drill bit one size larger when mounting directly into a stud or solid wood. Pretty attractive too!
