Gives a nice cut
Very easy to use. The cut quality is good. It took me a couple of cuts until I got the hang of figuring how to center the blade. After that it is a breeze and easy to handle

I got this after having used a 2-in-1 string trimmer edger for the past several years. The string edger did an OK job, but it did not give the clean, deep root-cutting edge of a true edger. The Toro, with the edger blade and beefier motor, is significantly heavier than a string trimmer. I expected that, but did not realize how much heavier it would feel. The battery alone weighs over 3 pounds. (I also thought it was pretty strange that you have to press the button to see how much of a charge it has.) Overall, I found it ergonomically awkward to use. At first I ended up edging about an inch to the right of where I intended to be, because I found it difficult to tell where the blade was cutting. In order to line it up properly, I had to stoop to get the wheel down far enough to keep it from jerking off course. I am only 5’ 4” so I imagine a taller person would find it to be even more awkward. On the plus side, the weight of the tool does seem to be balanced well and the tool does have a lot of power thanks to the huge battery.

This is a nice blower, but the charger failed. Not only did this charger fail, but I’d gotten two other Toro 60 volt lawn tools, which also come with chargers and batteries, and one of those chargers also failed. This charger never worked at all. The other charger that failed ceased to function after it charged a battery one time. So now I have three tools, three batteries and one functioning charger that I’m fearful will fail at any time. If that happens I will have three useless tools. As far as the functionality of the edger iteself goes, it’s good. It has more than enough power to edge my St. Augustne grass lawn. It also easily cut through some thick, overgrown Asiatic Jasmine. Two things to note: 1. There’s a rubber grommet that’s attached to the open end of the aluminum tube as it’s shipped. This grommet appears to be used to protect the electrical wires inside the tube from being cut by the sharp end of the tube prior to assembly. It is to be removed prior to assembly. 2. The motor soft starts. You will not get maximum torque on start up if the blade is embedded in something hard and cannot freely turn. You must allow the blade to spin up to speed (in the air), then lower it into the surface that’s being edged. It’ll edge just fine from that point on. The edger itself appears well built and performs well. However, with the quality issues I’ve had with the chargers, I cannot recommend purchasing it.

This battery operated edger is pretty cool. It was not difficult to assemble, but required patience on my part to follow the directions. The first time charging of the battery took about 1 + 1/4 hour. I was a little concerned that it might be too heavy for me to operate (I am 70 + woman with not a lot of strength). But once I got it all together it was easy to pick up by the handle shaft. I put it in place on my walkway and started it. It was easy to advance forward to cut the lawn edge. After finishing I just swept the debris back onto the lawn. It's not as clean a cut as a monofilament line type of edger, but it does the job.

This Toro Edger assembly is a breeze. Took less than 5 minutes to assemble 3 basic screws. 2 to fully assemble the handle and 1 to assemble and lock in the adjustable handle. The actual edging is a breeze as well, especially with the "sidewalk edge guide" which extends down and allows you to get a nice even edge/line. You can also adjust the depth of the edge and not having done this before, I realized you should use the shallowest setting first before going to a deeper setting ( if required).

Another great Toro product! My Toro mower is going strong at 25 years old, so I'm a Toro fan! This is another great addition to their product lineup. I got it to replace a corded electric edger that finally conked out. I often found myself hesitant to use the old corded one just because it was such a hassle, with a 100 foot extension cord and all, and I often didn't bother to edge at all. I'll have no excuse with this one, though! It assembled in minutes, the instructions are clear and well-written, and Toro stands behind their products. It's surprisingly powerful for a cordless edger, and I'm actually looking forward to using it ...once the 10 inches of snow melt!

This is my third Toro battery powered lawn/garden tool and I have been quite pleased with all of them. I haven't had the opportunity to do any actual edging with it yet as we are under about 30 inches of snow right now. But spring is right around the corner - or at least I hope so. I have done a ton of landscaping over the past couple of years and I really wanted something to crispen up the edges of the beds. We also paved about 600 ft of driveway last year and the last thing I want if for grass or weeds to even think about eating away the edges of my driveway. One of the notable improvements with this tool vs the previous tools is with the battery charger. The battery chargers that came with the previous tools were quite large whereas this one is a fraction of that size. In fact the charger slips into the back of the battery itself. Very convenient. Assembling the lawn edger was simple. You loosen a couple of Allen screws and slide the two sections together. The handle is attached by removing 4 Allen screws from the handle, placing the handle on the shaft and replacing the screws. Using a drill/driver with an appropriate sized long Allen bit made this go a lot easier that using the Allen key provided. I think I might like to see some sort of camming lever on the handle to make it more easily adjustable on the fly. The edger is on the heavy side but I think that weight will come in handy when it comes to edging. Better to let the tool do the work rather than having to force the edger downwards to deepen the edge. The depth of cut is adjustable by simply loosening a single wing nut, adjusting the depth and re-tightening the wing nut. In use the tools rests on a fairly beefy wheel and skid plate - both of which are replaceable. The edger blade is a piece of 8" no nonsense steel powered by a brushless motor in an aluminum housing that would seem to be able to take what ever you throw at it. They even throw in a tool that looks like a chainsaw wrench for replacing the skid plate and blade. I did not measure battery life but my experience with my other Toro products lead me to believe this will not be an issue. And as I expand my collection of Toro tools I will have spare batteries. Its nice to have some really powerful battery operated tools just to get away from all the noise and vibration of the gas powered versions. Plus battery tools are simple enough to operate that I am not the only one up to the task (hint hint). So i will be waiting (im)patiently for spring and in the meantime put the Toro Electric snow blower to good use around all those areas I can't get to with the plow.

When you first open the box the lower and upper sections are not together so you have to slide the upper half into the bottom half by pushing in a button and there is a hole on bottom section and this button fits into hole to lock the 2 together, some helpful advice loosen the Allen screws on top half so it will slide in easier. I am looking forward to being able to edge my walks with this steel edger rather than the string trimmer because it just looks better than the string trimmer as well as you have to do it less often. This thing has a roller on it to roll along and a 60 volt battery for plenty of power and a good brand name Toro so you can't go wrong. As far as the depth of the cut there is a wing nut on the wheel and you need to take the battery out when making this adjustment to avoid and bad accidents from happening. The only other assembly to do is attach the handle with 4 Allen bolts and you are good to go.

This is exactly the yard tool I've been looking for and I'm thrilled that the good people at TORO created one of these! I've been getting away from gasoline for my yard duties. I grew weary of coaxing gas engines to come to life before every use. First I converted to electric tools with cords, but as the batteries have gotten better and better, more and more I've found tools that are strong enough and have a long enough battery life to make them better choices. The final prize for my collection is this battery operated edger, and let me assure you, it has plenty of power! The folks at TORO can be proud. Like any new tool, it takes some practice to get the hang of how it works, but once you get comfortable with it, the edger works great! It has plenty of power to spin the blade (a real METAL edger blade, by the way). It can be adjusted for height with only a wing nut. It leaves a nice, straight, well cut edge. It can be assembled in just a few minutes, so no worries there. It's another great TORO tool!

This is an excellent battery powered edger. The 60 volt battery charges quickly and provides plenty of power to neatly trim your lawn. It is nicely and evenly weighted and comfortable to use. The rectangular blade easily cuts through tough centipede grass and leaves a professional looking clean edge. When unpacking my edger I did find a rubber bushing in the box (not in the parts bag). I could not locate a bushing on the parts list or find a need for it during assembly. Assembly is super easy except for the auxiliary handle. I think Toro could devise a better method of attaching the handle more securely to the pole. It took me longer to attach the handle than the rest of the assembly. I still give it a 5 Star rating for Quality, Functionality, Performance and Ease of Use.
