WHERE IS THIS MANUFACTURED?

Asked by Thomas October 20, 2020
1
Answer

Toro manufactures most of its products in the United States, primarily in the Midwest, with facilities in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Michigan. We do have manufacturing facilities around the world where efficiencies are gained by being closer to the end customer. All of our manufacturing facilities, regardless of location, adhere to the same standards for quality around our manufacturing processes.

Will this model fold down so I could fit it in a small SUV?

Asked by pbh333 October 4, 2020
1
Answer

Yes, the fold-down handle and chute make storage or transport simple. Storage dimensions: 33" x 21" x 34" (84 cm x 54 cm x 87 cm). Thank you.

What if the unit gets stuck or bogs down in heavy snow, can you back up without killing the engine?

Asked by Richard July 25, 2020
1
Answer

Yes, the Toro Power Clear platform is easy to maneuver through the snow allowing the user to easily move the machine forward and reverse in the event of clearing extremely deep, heavy or wet snow.

Asked by Andrew January 19, 2020

Answer

The Power Curve auger is designed to engage with the ground, therefore as soon as you pull the bail back, the machine will begin moving forward self propelling you thru the snow. Thank you.

Do you have to mix gas and oil

Asked by Merv January 18, 2020
1
Answer

Do not mix oil with gas. Non-Ethanol fuel is best. Oxygenated fuel with up to 10% ethanol or 15% MTBE by volume is acceptable. Do not use ethanol blends of gasoline (such as E15 or E85) with more than 10% ethanol by volume. Performance problems and/or engine damage may result which may not be covered under warranty. For best results, use only clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Use fresh fuel less than 30 days old. To reduce starting problems, add fuel stabilizer to the fuel all season, mixing it with gasoline less than 30 days old.

Can this be used on composite deck.

I have a large composite deck and I would be vary cautious about using this due to possible scatching. We use shovels with plastic blades.

How is it "electric" if it has a manual pull and you need an extension cord?

Asked by Arby November 30, 2019

Answers

It starts either way. Extension cord is for electric start because there is no battery. Mine started the first pull. Nice machine.

I have a steep driveway. Will this self propel up a 13 degree incline?

Asked by Arby November 30, 2019
1
Answer

This machine is not designed to move on its own power up a hill, rather the self-propulsion is to assist the user through the snow. The self-propelled snow blower moves easily through the snow as the user pushes it. Thank you.

I purchased this model through Home Depot in mid-January. It was shipped directly to me. The box had previously been opened and oil had leaked inside the box. Subsequently I found out that the oil dip stick had been screwed only halfway down. Well, OK the backup oil container was still sealed, so I topped up the oil to specs, put some gas in and started up the snow blower. It started well, ran well but I could not stop it. Eventually it ran out of gas. Home Depot handled the return in an exemplary style. I was away for a month, got back and replaced the order. The new unit looked untampered but it was hard to move because the right wheel (looking from the read) was jammed up tightly and it would not move. I returned that today, and the UPS man's comment was "Oh no! Not the snow blower!" which he delivered three days before and we have a snow-storm tomorrow. Bottom Line: should I assume Third Time Lucky rules, or should I assume that Toro Quality Control really sucks and go elsewhere?

I had to return the first snow blower that was shipped to my house because it was damaged (handle was all bent). I called customer service and they arranged for a replacement snow blower to be shipped to my local store (because I didn't want to have to wait at home again in order to receive my order for a second time), but I had to return the damaged snow blower to my local store for a refund, which I did. A week later, when I received the text indicating that my replacement snow blower was available for pick up, I drove all the way back to the Home Depot to pick it up. I took it straight home and began to assemble it. To my absolute dismay I quickly realized that it had also been damaged (either in storage or shipping) and the handle was all bent! Once again, I had to drive all the way back to Home Depot in order to return the second snow blower! I ended up buying the same model snow blower from a local retailer in my town for the same price, which I picked up in perfect condition 

This is a great snow blower but has an irritating flaw. The Toro qze 721 does do a decent job at blowing snow. It doesn't blow anywhere near the 35ft, but I didn't expect it too. I have blown both wet heavy snow, and light snow. Now on to the one flaw in my opinion. When blowing snow it blows some snow back through the deflector. Of course the more you have the chute pointed downward the more snow comes out the back. I checked the deflector and one side has a gap of almost 1/2 inch. I contacted Toro, they told me this was "normal and the deflector being almost 1/2" off on one side was within specs." Toro also stated that this snowblower is like all the others and snow will blow back through the deflector, if its light fluffy snow. It blew back through the deflector every time I have used it, no matter if its heavy wet snow or light powdery snow. But with a large gap on one side, its going to. Toro stated its "Its normal, within specs and not a warranty issue"

The Toro PowerClear 721 QZE is an excellent Snow Blower for moving wet or dry snow. It will even...
The Toro PowerClear 721 QZE is an excellent Snow Blower for moving wet or dry snow. It will even break up packed heavy snow. There is some blow-by created by the thrower that occasionally escapes through the rear through a tiny gap in the back as you are clearing snow. This is not really a problem though as all that has to be done is pull back and go over the area once more. I see many people complain about this but like I said just pull back and do a once more over if you really want to be picky about a few cups of snow per 10-15 feet of forward travel. This is a well-made, powerful, easy to use snow blower that produces terrific results in clearing snow faster to save you some time and muscle ache. I used the Power Clear 421 QE that I got for my mother for about 4 years and the only difference between that model and this one is the engine size. The 421 QE has a 163 cc engine, and the 721 QZE has a 212 cc engine. Either model is simple to use and produces great results. To engage the propeller and begin throwing snow you simply pull the engagement bar down to the handle bar. The paddles of the propeller system are rubber, so this can be used to clear most any hard surface without damage to the surface you are clearing. I used it on my wooden deck and it worked marvelously. It will take snow right down to the surface too so if you have a gravel surface it would be wise to use extra caution and make sure your chute is directed in a safe area because the power of the propel system will chute rocks and any hard debris that are in the blowers path. The directional control of the chute is simple to function with the use of your hand just a simple squeeze of the blue actuator release and slide forward or back to direct the chute (the nice thing about this feature is that you do not have to stop to use the function). To control angle elevation of your chute direction you simply step to the chute and depress the blue release lever and move the chute angle elevation up or down (I have used this function without stopping but I find it’s best to just stop and move to the chute to change the elevation). I found the electric start to be a nice feature as well. If you are having difficulty in pull starting (for me every start has been a first full so far) you simply plug your extension cord into the plug in port and depress the red start button for no longer than five seconds at a time and no less than 2-3 seconds. If you have the key turned to the on position, then have properly primed gas with 3 pushes and have the choke to full set the blower should start right up. Comes with easy to follow instructions and is simple to run. Nice product Toro.

I've had several snow blowers over the years and the Toro 721QZE 21 literally "blows" them all away. The quick directional lever is wonderful---no more bending over. The 4 stroke engine is half the noise of my former 2 stroke engines. I used my new blower several times now and it's well worth it---quality machine!

Date 1/3/15: I used my new, purchased 9/26/14, 721 QZE for the first time today in about 2 inches of snow. The machine starts easily, is quiet, powerful and directional adjustments very easy. I have been using Toro Single stage snow blowers for over 30 years. My previous Toro blower, Model CCR3650, still works but is over 12 years old so I purchased this new one in fall of 2014. The new 721QZE was throwing snow in small quantities from the middle back onto the path I just cleared as I moved forward. I suspect that scraper may not be level. I will check it tomorrow in the daylight. I tried several different ways and the back throwing seems to be consistent. I have a relative newly paved driveway; it is 5 years old and has not changed in any way since last winter when I used the CCR3650. I will let you know what I find tomorrow when I check to see if the scrapper is level or not. Update: 1/4/15: I just put a “back light” behind the 721 QZE to see if the scrapper was “level” or touching the “paved” surface, a concrete garage floor, which is level, equally across the entire length of the scrapper. It is not. The light in pictures is showing where the scrapper is not touching the floor. I believe that is what is causing the snow to come back into the path I have just cleared. The snow is being pushed under the scrapper where the light shows through in my photos. Please let me know how this problem can be corrected.

Amazing little snowblower
Customer review from toro.com logo
I bought my Toro 721 4 years ago and it has performed! I clear snow for my entire block in the city which is about 4 km (2.5 miles) each time so my snowblower has done about 160km (99 miles) and I've never had an issue nor had to do anything with it except change the oil and the paddles. The engine starts up and it's so easy I've never had to use the electric start option. My only complaint is how on city streets the scraper bar catches on the sidewalk where it has lifted up. It jerks really hard but I don't think there is anything I can do about that. The new model has a different system so maybe that would be better?

I have only used my new Toro one time. We are supposed to get 3 to 6 inches of snow tonight. I should get a chance to give my new Toro a great workout tomorrow.
