Wow! I'm impressed! Granted I live I SWFL a humid place The dehumidifier in 24hrs took out of the air over 1 gallon of water. I would say the air comes out really cold and covers the recommended 550 feet. If you need a larger area coverage then I would not recommend this AC. Don't like that the window vent doesn't have a cover. Will have to figure a way to make the vent unappealing looking and small animal entrance proof from outside. All in all am very happy with this product so far.. Note: have not connect to the wifi yet so that I can not rate!

This machine is great. I've only had it a month so far, but am loving it. The displays are large and easy to read. I really like having the remote on my night table for convenience during the night. I haven't linked to my phone yet, but intend to. It's much quieter than the previous window unit I had. You can certainly hear it come on, but it's not too noisy. The only negative thing I would say is the exhaust hose is not very long. It seems to be made for a window bit more than about 3 feet from the floor. I had to purchase an extention for my 6 foot high window.

The Toshiba portable air conditioner is designed to cool rooms up to 550sf using heat pump technology. Due to this it is rather large and heavy at 77lb, but the variable speed inverter makes this unit really quiet. Depending on the cooling power it ranges between 42 and 56dbA. The sound you hear is mostly the air flow – the compressor is barely audible, which makes it a almost pleasant ‘white noise’ rather than the often heard roaring compressor. This is the only portable ac with this technology, even Toshiba’s smaller portable units are not based on inverter design. In heating mode (operation between 41F and 86F) a drain hose needs to be connected to the middle drain port, which is fed by an internal condensate pump. Also an insulation sleeve around the dual air hose should be installed to avoid condensation along the cold air exhaust. In Dehumidifier mode a drain hose needs to be connected to the upper drain port. In AC mode no drain hose is required, but in areas with excessive humidity water may collect in the pan and an error P1 may show once it is filled, draining the pan from the lower drain port is awkward. This unit does not feature a removable condensate bucket, like most dehumidifiers. Efficiency is high – at max power it consumes 1350W, cooling efficiency is SEER 12.3, heating COP 8.88 A lot of hardware is included to install in hung or sliding windows, it works well to quickly install. I just wish the insulating stick-on pads were white, not black. The IR remote has limited range and needs to be pointed to the unit, but can serve as a remote sensor (called comfort sense), would be great to have a wall bracket for it! The manual supplied may not be the most up-to date but HomeDepot has a link to a newer version which is more clear. Many specs are not listed in the manual, but Toshiba Support is very quick to respond to inquiries in the Q&A section It works very well, a low hum when starting up, no sudden compressor ‘kick-in’ It keeps our 400sf area nice and cool while most you hear is air rushing. I just wish there was a single condensate pump and discharge port, so the unit can be in any mode with a drain hose connected. And finally, the unit looks very nice too, the dual air hose is corrugated plastic which can be pulled and bent such that it stays very straight. So once you decide a portable AC is the best option for you (no lifting into the window, not visible from outside, easy to relocate to different areas) and this one is not too large for the room (it uses up a lot of real estate) I recommend this unit over standard compressor ones, it also gives you the option to heat (12,000btu) much more efficiently than an electric heater. (Toshiba also makes inverter based window AC units)

The Toshiba 14000 BTU portable air conditioner is one quality unit! First of all, it is ultra quiet at 42 decibels. It also has a fan setting and a heat setting...amazing! The inverter construction is similar to a heat pump, I gather. Additionally, it comes with a remote control and is also wifi-enabled, using an app. It is a sleek looking unit and the setup directions are easy to follow. It's at our cottage, where we have no central a/c, but have ceiling fans in every room, but there are those days that are just too hot and we will certainly welcome this Toshiba product. PS... shipping must have been rough, as it is heavy (thankfully has wheels), but the unit was undamaged.

Yes, this unit is portable, it rolls around best on a hard surface. There are a lot of components, double check when you are un-packaging, notice pic-2 that little white piece in the center, it is a "window kit brace". There are several types of insulation so you need to decide which window you will probably use most as the insulation has an adhesive backing. Window frames can all be a little different so be prepared. Pic-5 is the back of the unit. The top center is the drain for continuous drain, say to a bucket. The bottom center is if you want to drain the interior pan when it is full. The bottom right is for when in the heat pump mode. Pic-3 is a removable panel, behind the flex duct, to access the evaporator coil. But this is also the one and only actual filter, to be sure I called the 1-855-... customer service number to double-check. The remote has a lot of features, see page 23 in the manual. I like the swing mode that controls the horizontal louvers. It is quieter than others I have heard. I was expecting this to use R410a freon, however, it uses R32. And yes there is an app. This is a nice machine and to date the highest tech unit I have seen. The inverter technology, is basically variable speed, of the fan, compressor, or both. This is definitely worth looking at.

We'd been needing an additional AC unit for the home office, and wanted something that would be a little less awkward to move around than another window unit. This does take up more real estate in the room itself, but the fact that it heats *and* cools really balances that out. I also love that I can control this from anywhere. The room itself is only 120 sq. ft. (much smaller than the max square footage this will cover) but it certainly works well in this space. We haven't tried out the heating yet - with the recent heat wave, we really haven't wanted to! - but I'm looking forward to giving that a whirl in another a month or two.

First of all, I have used multiple portable ACs in the past and one of them is really good for my 600 sf first floor in my house. I would still say that this new Toshiba portable AC with inverter is the best one I have used and probably the best in the market. There are several aspects that no other portable AC could compete with this one: 1. Inverter. This is the only portable AC that has inverter in it. You can find windows ACs with interval are going trendy these days (and expensive too) because they offer superior energy efficiency (40% less energy consumption) and super quiet operation. But this is the only portable AC with inverter in the market. 2. Hose-in-hose design. Again, this is the only one that has this cool design. All the other dual-hose portable AC has two hoses which look very ugly to me. This design is elegant and does not create eye sore in the room. And being a dual-hose design itself is superior than many other portable ACs in the market. 3. Smart. This AC can connect with Alexa or GoogleHome. It's a very cool and practical feature because now I can set automations like "turning on AC when the outdoor temperature reaches 80 degree" or "turning on AC when I am on my way home". 4. Cooling capability. It is certainly not the best but very good. On a day that the outdoor temperature reaches 91 degree, the AC took about 2 - 3hours to cool the entire first floor (600 sf) to 75 degree (see picture). My previous AC, a very powerful one, would probably take less than 2 hours. The only part that I am a little disappointed is the remote control. I mean it looks pretty nice but somehow it's signal is not well received by the AC if it is away from the AC for more than 9 feet. Overall, I really like this Toshiba portable AC and I'd recommend it to anyone who find its features useful.

This is a well-designed unit that has a smaller footprint than other units of the same capacity. It was easy to install. To test the unit I installed it in my two-car garage which is insulated and without any cooling or heating. The window adapter was easy to install. I used one of the expanders in order to fit the window. I used the horizontal setup, although it can be mounted verticle with the included adapters. The expandable ducting made it easy to expand and arch to the window opening. It easily snapped into place. I snapped the ducting before putting the window adapter in place. The garage was 84 degrees F. The controls were easy to set with the remote and with all doors closed the temperature dropped 2 degrees in 30 minutes with high humidity. The oscillating louver makes the air circulate with a swinging motion and can be stopped in any position with the swing function. The temperature can be set to Heat, Cool, Fan, and Automatic.

Toshiba markets this product as ultra-quiet. Using the product I do find it much quieter than other portable units I have used and also quieter than the window unit I have used. It is louder when the fan is at full speed compared to low speed but still quieter than any other air conditioner I have used. Installation of this product was far from ideal for my circumstance. My application is a horizontal sliding window. Toshiba includes a variety of panels that can be used to accommodate various size windows. These panels slide into one another and use plastic pins to keep them from moving. Once you put weather stripping into the window channels, getting the panels to the right size, inserting the pins and moving the panels into final position is difficult. They drag and catch on the weather stripping. Since one has to put pins into each side, there is no way to preinstall the pins and then insert the panel. The other issue is the panel flexes at all the joints and as I closed the window against the panel it would bow in causing gaps between the panel and the provided weather stripping. I also had to remove my exterior screen because the air divider in the intake/exhaust adapter sticks out so far it was pushing against the screen too much. The exhaust adapter is huge (used only for vertical sliding window installations) and just barely cleared the side of the window opening in the wall. The attachment point of the hose to the adapter leaves multiple open gaps that result in dirt/dust/air having a way to enter the room. Since this is a portable unit, I did not want to use the adhesive based weather stripping that was included. It was also too thin for my application and would not close up all the gaps so I ended up buying foam air conditioning weather stripping at the hardware store to complete my installation. In use, the machine operates fairly well. I like that the vent system rotates downward when the system is powered down to prevent dust and debris from entering the unit. A remote control is included that has an integrated thermometer. You can place it up to 26 feet away and put the air conditioner in a mode that will cool the room to the temperature detected by the remote instead of the temperature detected at the unit. You can also control all functions of the unit from the remote or directly on the unit. The vent system can be put in fixed mode where it basically blows upward or it can be put into a mode where the vent rotates up and down. This unit supports multiple modes. It can cool, heat, dehumidify and run fan only. There is a condensate collection system which can fill up and needs to be drained. In heat mode the instructions indicate there is an option to connect a hose to a drain and the unit can pump the condensate automatically out of the unit up to six feet in height. Dehumidification will most certainly require draining condensate. The instructions are not clear to me if cooling mode will generate condensate for drainage or if the unit can self dissipate it. I have not run the unit long enough to determine if condensate is building up. Since condensate is stored in an internal tray instead of a tank, you will need to be very careful when moving the unit to drain the condensate as it could splash around and leak out of the unit. One item of note, I set the unit to 79 degrees overnight. When I got up in the morning a standalone thermometer not near the direct path of the units air flow showed the room at 75 degrees but the unit was actively cooling with the 79 degree setting. This tells me the internal thermometer may not be properly calibrated. Something you will notice in the attached pictures is the size of the hose to the window. This is much larger than other portable units. The reason for this is how this unit works and why it is a preferred style of portable unit. Most portable air conditioners draw air from inside your house to cool and blow in then take the hot are generated in the process and blow it outside. The problem with this design is all the air pulled in has to come from somewhere which means hot exterior air will be pulled into the home to make up the lost air through cracks and other openings throughout the house. This is inefficient. A Window air conditioner recycles the air in your home and the cooling process and resulting hot air generated is all handled on the outside of the window. What this Toshiba unit does (and the cause of the large hose) is it pulls air from the outside and then exits it back out to perform the cooling process and recycles the interior air that is being cooled. This is far more efficient and why this unit will perform closer to a window air conditioner allowing it to cool your room 2x faster (per Toshiba’s claim) than other design portable units. Additional functions include Auto Off and Auto On programs that can be set from 30 minutes up to 24 hours and a sleep mode that will adjust the temperature by 1 degree after 30 minutes then another degree after 30 more minutes then hold it for 7 hours. So in cool mode if you started at 75 degrees and went to bed, after 30 minutes the unit moves to 76 degrees, after 30 more minutes it adjusts to 77 degrees and then holds that for 7 hours.

This Toshiba by far is the best unit I have ever used. It cools and it heats very well. The manufacturer of this unit is Midea partnered with Toshiba. Midea makes great units and I have lots of experience with their products in other brands. From my test, I ran this unit in Cooling mode at 62°F. The unit did expell conditioned air per specification and meets my expectation. For electrical, it is within tolerance of the name plate. Although I was able to run this off of a wall outlet in the living room, I recommend installing a dedicated 15A or 20A circuit to serve this unit. From my electrical meter measurements, it is consuming just north of 12A @ 120VAC @ full load with the compressor on. Some negatives include the fact that this is heavy and the exhaust's optimum installation position is for windows that rise and close in the up and down configuration, although it is not impossible to install the exhaust in a sliding window configuration.
