Would an in-line GFCI provide any added safety for operating a space heater in a bedroom? I'm using an electric oil-filled radiator. Thanks.

No, GFCI, are primarily for used in wet environments, use with a heater will not make a major difference in safety and may effect the heaters performance. Mike

What are the pros and cons of the automatic vs. manual reset?

What are the pros and cons of the automatic vs. manual reset?
Asked by: jmiller
The Con of a manual reset, is if there is a utility power outage you have to go and hit the button to reset the connection, where as the automatic will, automatically reset. EX: This will come in handy if you have an outdoor light display. With an automatic reset, If you lose power when you are not home, when the power returns the display will be lit. With the Manual, it will be dark till you go and hit the reset button.

Can this item be adapted to a cord reel, or is it a sealed unit?

I have a cord reel that has a damaged receptacle. I would like to cut off this receptacle and replace it with a GFCI type.
Asked by: FactoryGuy
I've personally adapted these inline (auto* reset model) gfci to my 125' 12awg sjoow cords without problems. The back plate comes off and you would do same as to a repair cord end. * this model is manual reset - which means after power come back on, you have to preset reset button to repower this unit.
