Can I install this over old carpet adhesive on concrete? it's the yellowish color carpet adhesive...

Asked by Ronnie June 1, 2021

My floor had carpet adhesive on it. I used a razor blade floor scraper to remove as much as possible. It was not a perfect surface but the tile went down very well. The adhesive is strong. Larger bumps might show, but it should stick quite well. The tile has a pattern to it so that helps hide irregularities. Make sure your floor is completely dry before you install!

Is this a good option to use if your existing floors are not completely without flaws like a dip ...

Asked by Leslie May 20, 2021

I wouldn’t recommend if the floors aren’t flat and flush below. It needs to be prepped cleaned and flat for good adhesion.

I have a very heavy island. Will it leave dents in the flooring?

Asked by Redhead May 15, 2021

Our refrigerator didn’t leave dents but sudden hard impacts certainly did. It also scratches easily if heavy objects are dragged across it but that’s the case with most flooring. Overall for the price we really loved the quality and look of the flooring. Make sure you prep the floor well for good adhesion.

Can you install this on a painted concrete? We painted our concrete inside, temporarily, so we didnt feel like we lived in a basement.

Asked by Jeanny May 14, 2021

This will not install over painted concrete. Concrete has to be bare, level and finish grade (very smooth surface). The reason it will not work is the adhesive on these planks need to bond and make direct contact with the flooring surface, paint in-between will cause poor adhesion of the vinyl and the tiles will end up coming loose. When installed over concrete you will also need a moisture barrier perthe manufacturers recommended installation over concrete instructions .

Can this be used to fake a wood beam look when used over existing, unattractive ceiling beams?

Asked by Cate April 27, 2021

I would not recommend to use this flooring for your project. You would want to find a real wood veneer in the size you need or alternatively use real wood for your project.

Is this flooring okay for a cottage in New Hampshire where the heat is turned off in the winter?

Asked by Pattie April 26, 2021

Installation should be over subfloor and not overtop any existing vinyl flooring.for best results. Plywood underlayment is ok so long as it is not OSB, or chipboard. The vinyl will be fine in the cold temperatures if installed on the correct subflooring.

Cleaning and maintenance.

Asked by Jamie April 1, 2021

We just used our swifter and it worked well. Has held up with over the years with a dog and baby.

Fantastic Product
I put this down in a master bedroom, right off a porch/pool. Since it can withstand water and moisture, this seemed like the best choice. Overall, the look is great. Here are a few tips... Use a chalkline to get started. Don't rely on the walls and measure multiple times to find the centers and split the difference between uneven walls. If there's an obvious wall or door, you want to line it up with that. Lay out each full run of planks to be sure you don't end up with a teeny piece at the walls. Then stick them down. Watch for duplicates and keep them a couple of planks away from each other. It's easy to get off since these don't lock together, just ever so slightly, which will make a slight gap here or there. If this happens and you don't detect it until later, floor glue (or maybe dark caulk) can be used to fill the gap, then hit it with a permanent marker to mask it. On my concrete floor, I had to use vinyl "stick and stay" glue on every plank as a supplement. The glue it comes with wasn't sticking good enough. For the cost and that this was DIY, I can't complain. Having to add the extra glue was a lot of labor. Use shoe molding and a door transition to hide any gaps.

Inconsistant Color, Buckles Under Sun Spots
I laid this flooring down in my foyer, eat-in kitchen, kitchen and garage hallway backnin March. It went down easily and looked great. Now that it’s May and I have the doors and windows open because it’s nice out, I have found that the floor starts to buckle in places where the sun hits it. My front door is all glass, and numerous tiles around the front door have started to buckle, and bend. I also had trouble matching different boxes of the flooring. I purchased seven boxes in March and had to get two more boxes in April. The two boxes I got in April looked nothing like the tiles I laid down in March. The tiles were severely faded and looked like a printer that was running very low on ink. Overall I would absolutely not recommend this flooring unless you’re using it in a small dark room that never sees any sun.

Redid my spare room with this flooring, used a primer for the concrete and a mallet after each board. Came out amazing.

It scratches incredibly easy and now our floors look horrible and never look clean. I’ve tried every trick in the book. Looked good for about 3 months but now we’re looking at new flooring after spending a ton of time putting this in. The photo is the floor AFTER it’s been cleaned
