Is this water proof? and suitable for a kitchen with high traffic?

Asked by bigd1955 January 30, 2021

Answer

Good morning. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. The flooring itself will not be affected by water; however, if water is allowed to lay on the floor and penetrate the seams of the tiles, it can cause the adhesive to fail and cause issues with the subfloor. I hope this information is helpful. Have a great day.

What kind of tool is required to cut these into shape for tricky corners?

Cuts with regular utility knife.

Can you discribe the colors in this tile?

Brown, terra cotta (orange tones), some gray. The picture is an accurate representation.

How to keep it shiny?

It has a low gloss surface. I installed this 2 years ago and with routine cleaning with a mild, pH neutral soap and water, it still looks good.

I’d like to install this in a back entryway, but there are stairs. What would you suggest I use for the edge?

Asked by Ak October 2, 2020

Answer

Good morning. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. I apologize for the inconvenience; however, we don not have a matching stair nose trim piece for this flooring. We recommend using one of the stock stair nose edge trims that are typically found in your local store. I hope this information is helpful. Have a great day.

Do these have to be grouted?

Good morning Debra. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. This flooring does not need grout for installation. The grout lines are already a part of the design of this tile. I hope this information is helpful. Have a great day.

First measure the area you want to cover and then divide it by 30, and that would be the number of cases you need. There are 30 sq ft per case.

Can these be placed on top of current tiles

Good afternoon. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question. I apologize for the delay in responding to your inquiry as recent technical difficulties have impacted our ability to respond. This floor can be installed over existing on grade or above vinyl tile flooring as long as the existing flooring is fully glued down, clean and free of waxes and polishes, and is flat and smooth. Any texturing will need to be smoothed over with S-194 Patch, Underlayment & Embossing Leveler mixed with the S-195 Underlayment Additive. It can also be installed over existing ceramic tile flooring as long as the ceramic is firmly bonded, clean, dry and dust-free. Check for cracks, scaling, levelness, and other damage. Grout lines and other texture on the ceramic will need to be leveled with S-184 Patch & Skim Coat or S-194 Patch, Underlayment & Embossing Leveler mixed with the S-195 Underlayment Additive. Here is a link to our installation instructions for this floor. https://sforce.co/2xEDEin I hope this information is helpful. Have a great day.

50/50 Chance they have glue.
Purchased 8 boxes (240 sq ft) for remodel. Of the 8 case, 2 cases, the tiles did not have glue applied to almost a 1/3 of the backing. The other 6 cases, the tile was lucky to have enough glue to hold it properly to the flooring let alone sustain enough bonding to hold the product in place after some foot traffic. I attempted to even use a heat gun on a low setting to help the glue be more tacky and get a better grip. Sadly, the tile began to unstick from the flat, smooth and new subfloor. It is a great looking floor tile, but over all my years of laying flooring, this is the most disappointed I have been with a product in a quality stand point and a functionality standpoint.

Response from Armstrong FlooringNov 12, 2020
Good morning Frank. Thank you for taking the time to post a review of our product. We are sorry to hear that you are not happy with this flooring. The adhesive on the back of peel and stick tiles does not feel overly sticky. It is a pressure sensitive adhesive, so it develops a better bond with the subfloor when pressure is applied to the flooring. It is important with peel and stick tile to make sure the subfloor is clean, dry, flat, and smooth, and to make sure the tile has been acclimated to the area for at least 48 hours, and the floor needs to be rolled to help secure the bond. All of our floors are covered by a manufacturer’s warranty, and if you feel there is a defect with the tile you have the right to return to the store where the flooring was purchased and have a flooring associate file a claim on your behalf. Again, I do apologize for any inconvenience, and I hope this is helpful. Have a great day. Armstrong

Pretty easy to install. Delicate, if you bend a corner of the tile, throw it out, don't use the tile, it will not stick. Other than that, we love the look and the feel.

I am pretty pleased with this product. It looks nice and was fairly easy to install. My only "complaint" / disappointment is that one box of tiles had an edge that was not particularly strong and tended to crack along the edge more than other tiles, especially if I was trying to cut the tile to fit a particular space. It suspect this box was dropped on its side at some point in time and left an invisible weakness in each tile that wasn't noticeable until installation work put stress on the tile. I recommend really carefully reading the instructions before installing because it takes some time for the product to be ready to install, such as the temperature of the room, the floor surface and making sure the tile is warm enough to install (or the adhesive won't work optimally.) I also recommend being extremely careful about cleaning the floor before trying to install it. Cleanliness makes a huge difference in how well the product sticks, and if you accidentally leave a little bit of concrete grit or a little rock (or worse!), etc, on the floor, it will show up once you flatten down the tile. If it's in a high traffic area, it could even start to damage the tile from underneath. I recommend using concrete filling if there is any hole in the floor bigger than a dime or marble.
