Answer This Question

A:  You want to use the size that gives the tightest fit. Some people find that they have to use different sizes in different areas.

Q:Does this interfere with snow removal?

      Answer This Question

A:  The Trim a slab should not interfere with snow removal because the trim is pushed down in between two slabs of sidewalk/concrete. The trim fits snugly in the joint. We followed enclosed instructions which were to remove debris and in our case the wooden dividers between the joints. We cut to appropriate length then tamped down snugly with a rubber hammer. Highly recommend.

A:  If it sits too high when installed, then the shovel or snowblower can catch on it. I use both. I have had mine installed for a couple Winters now and there are a couple spots I have to be aware of. The problem areas I have are where I had to use different width fillers and I didn't quite make the joint flush when I installed it. Regardless of those minor annoyances, I have enjoyed not pulling weeds from between my driveway slabs ever since I installed them.

Q:Will installing these in my driveway's gaps prevent weeds from growing in or around this product?

          Answer This Question

A:  It should. I don't have a weed problem after I got the strips in place. I'd put weed killer in t h e cracks prior to putting the straps in place.

A:  It helps, but over time as drirt builds around the edge grass or a weed can pop up. Very small problem though. We would recommend and use this product again

A:  Yes I put this in and I have had no weeds.

                by|Sep 11, 2022

A:  I put sand in the gap first and then put in the rubber trim. It will prevent most weeds but a few might show up.

                    Quick and easy!
Recommend this to everyone. DIY. So easy to use. The hardest part was pulling out the old rotten wood expansion joints. After that it to 30 minutes to install the trim a slab. I do as many home projects myself as I can. Proud of this job!

                      Easy to install!
Trim-A-Slab is so very easy to install. It can take some effort to remove the old expansion joint filler, but once I had a clean expansion joint, all I had to do was tap the Trim-A-Slab into the opening. I have used Trim-A-Slab at earlier homes, so I know it will be there long after I have moved on. Taking the time and care to install Trim-A-Slab in a washed-out expansion joint will help potential buyers know that this home was well cared for. Photo from this install. About 1 1/2 hour of work.

                        Pricey but Worth It
I purchased this last year and wanted to give an update review... With our old house, I went the cheaper route (black cellulose, I think). Even in the desert, they didn't keep moisture away--they crumble and rot. This is a harsher climate, so I paid more for the extra protection of Trim-A-Slab. It's pricey, but worth the peace of mind--no more flaking apart. This trim has gone through all the seasons--including scorching sun, pelting rain and snow...The installation is easy (filled gaps with play sand and installed trim with rubber mallet). This protects really well, the look is attractive and blends into the cement.

Needed to seal an open joint
The joint where my sidewalk met the pad for our hot tub lost the material originally installed. The joint width wasn't consistent. This product filled the bill. It fit snuggly the complete distance. No more acorns and water in the space.

                            Works as it claims
I was looking for wood strip expansion joint for a long time without luck. Then I found this product. I was doubtful if it would fill the gap and hard to install. Nope, it was easy, and the results are professional looking. It took me about an hour to install both locations, but I spent most of time cleaning the groove. Take a look at the pictures.

The product was easy to install and did the job of sealing the gap between the driveway and garage floor. However the finished job was uneven and does not look so great, wavy and bumpy due to settling and uneven levels of the concrete, not the products fault.
