Answer This Question

Pre bullet "Can be primed then painted/sealed then stained" - but its already primed so how do you stain it and what's the point of priming it again, are you saying the primer on it is no good?

Answer This Question

Would this be okay to use for an breadboard wall as a picture frame ledge / trim? I wouldn't put anything heavy on it. It would be more for the aesthetic.

Could this be used as trim around a shower?

Answer This Question

No. Mdf is not a good choice for wet environments because it absorbs water readily. Solid PVC trim would be the best solution.

For best results, MDF trim should be painted, satin or semigloss latex would be fine.

Can be used for exterior window trim?
      ByNov 11, 2024

      Answer This Question

It being finger jointed means it is pieces of stock glued together end to end. Not suitable for exterior work. Use a one piece board and make sure you prime the board with an exterior grade primer on all sides then paint.

        Good wood, TERRIBLE labels
Overall this is a great product for projects to be painted. I have one complaint: Must the label be affixed with industrial strength goo? I haven't found a way to remove it without chemicals and eventual sanding. Is label-switching that much of a problem? I accept that the price of all lumber has skyrocketed recently but couldn't your supplier use break-away labels that can't be switched? I'd gladly pay the extra $0.003 it would take to cover the cost.

The trim board was used as a window edging and worked perfectly for the task. Already primed and straight.

          Check closely
Check carefully. I've purchased lots of these primed board from HD and elsewhere. Recent purchases from HD have been heavily spalted and caused chipouts when cutting. Finished surfaces have multiple defects needing sanding.

These boards are very nice! I used them for making window casings and base trim. They painted well and were very easy to sand, paint and install!

            Not 3 " wide
Watch the measurements... I'm no carpenter but these are not 3 inches wide... 2 1/2. Screwed up my project because I didn't measure them. Not happy!

Great for a DIY accent wall.
I created an accent wall for my living room use these strip. The were all straight for the most part and had no dings in them. I will use them for future projects.
