What is meant by 2 stage?

Asked by Shadow915 February 10, 2021
2
Answers

two stage means two rotating blades. The first blade picks up snow from surface and throws snow into a second blade located at bottom of exiting snow shute. This second blade throws the snow from the machine. .

I'm a small old lady (69), would this be to hard for me to turn?

Asked by Mary February 6, 2021

Answers

I hate to say it, but yes. The wheels are NOT free spinning in any transmission setting and turning in a small radius requires some effort. It's the only thing I do not like about the machine. If you were turning while going forward in say a driveway, it's not difficult, but turning on a sidewalk to change directions does require muscle, and the machine is very heavy.

What is the size of the shipping carton?

Asked by Bob February 3, 2021

Answers

It's a bit bigger than the blower, not much wasted space though and the arms are folded down and the blower shoot is not installed. They do surround it with a wood lathe frame and then the cardboard box. Sorry, I had mine delivered so I don't know if it would fit in my SUV, probably not, definitely would fit if you take it out of the box since the handles are folded down for shipping. Delivery is free in my area, but there is a two-week wait right now. I'm glad I had mine delivered a few months ago since it is quite heavy. Definitely a two-person job to lift.

what type of gas to use with the Troy Bilt 26 in 243 cc snow blower?

" Use automotive gasoline (unleaded or low leaded to minimize combustion chamber deposits) with a minimum of 87 octane. Gasoline with up to 10% ethanol or 15% MTBE (Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether) can be used. Never use an oil/gasoline mixture or dirty gasoline. Avoid getting dirt, dust, or water in the fuel tank. DO NOT use E15 or E85 gasoline. " from the manual

Regular oil is fine, this is a "lawnmower" engine. Regular oil, 5W-30 according to the manual. You can use synthetic if you desire, 0W-30 according to the manual, but you would probably need to drain the regular oil to replace it with synthetic.

Great For MN Winters
We had a 9" snowfall and my 40 year old beast finally quit. I was able to find this Troy-Built 26" 243cc on sale. It fired up 3rd pull and I set to clearing the driveway. We have a 1/4 mile private drive (gravel). This handled it no problem even the was from the county plow at the road. Snow flies at least 30ft. It's heavy enough to have traction yet I lifted it in my pickup alone. Two guys could barely manage my old blower. It also burned far less gas. I did my neighbors drive I was having so much fun. Awesome little workhorse. I'll update the review if anything goes awry. I went with this model because father in law has the same model and has enjoyed it for a few years now on his farm.

HomeDepot customer service is lacking Customer service
My snowblower was delivered today- Setup took 20 minutes- I noticed I was missing one of the bolts on the handle assembly- texted homedepot and they told me to return the snowblower or contact Toro for the part- if I was able to return it- I would not have had it delivered

Works great. The chute design allows the snow and slush to get thrown rather than plug up. Starts easy, gas consumption is reasonable. Light allows you to easily see the direction of the chute and the elevation. Only drawback that I have found is that it is geared so that it moves quickly, much faster than a competitor that I use.

works great until the carb gets clogged
It does its job well (clearing snow). As many have stated, after storing the snowblower for the warm months, despite using fuel stabilizer, it wouldn’t start this winter. Only used it 7 times and it looks brand new. Starter fluid in the sparkplug socket didn’t work. An internet search found many owners with the same exact problem, all because the carb gets clogged way too easily when stored. A youtube video for carb cleaning on a troybilt looked too complicated for DIY. So i had an engine pro fix it, who showed me how to clean the carb- it was actually very easy! Lean the unit forward to access the bottom. The carb has 2 nuts- L to drain, and R to remove. Clean the bowl and unclog the jet valve with a paper clip. Refill the gas, and start it up! When the winter ends, I’ll completely empty the gas tank, run it till it stops, and last, drain the carb.

I still not have a chance to use it. Just because there is no snow in this two weeks, the assembly may be a little complicate to me - for the operator's manual combine with the other models also. Hope that I could figured out all the features and how to maintenance it.

I've had a Troy-Bilt snowblower for the last 12 years and loved it. I bought this one right before a huge snow storm and it performed like a beast! It runs great and went through 8" of snow without any hesitation. It throws the snow at least 30', it is amazing. I absolutely love it!! I highly recommend this snowblower. The light could be better, maybe an LED. The single bulb is not very bright and it gets blocked by the chute. Otherwise it is awesome!

I ordered this blower online and picked up at the Home depot store. It was used the first time in 2 days later, and the F/R cable was broke in the first use. I went to the store to ask for the replacement of the cable, The technicians and association there told me to call Troy-Bilt for the replacement of cable. I will return it to Home Depot and find another one from other sellers.

Great snowblower
I’ve had this for 4 years now , it’s by far the best snow cleaner I’ve ever owned. It’s reliable, easy to start and use, does great on light snow and even the heavy wet stuff the county plow dumps at the end of my country driveway.
